We have a lovely number of new women members - welcome to you all! Some are novices and some are coming back to golf after an absence.
There are a number of new initiatives to encourage you back to golf and to improve your game - we all need that!
One of these initiatives is a NOVICE clinic next Thursday (24th), given by our trainee pro - Anthony. Only 4 places are available ... so get in quick! Anthony will work on your SWINGS - SHORT GAME AND FULL SWING.
The 2nd initiative starts on Friday 25th June where new members play 9 holes with "old" members. Starting at 10.30am, there are a few timeslots allocated to this FUN way of getting into golf. Come on, give it a go!! Men are welcome too!!
The final of the Jubilee Foursomes was played on Tuesday, with Barb Clayton and Clare Stanham winning 3/2. CONGRATULATIONS!! The pair beat Netti Buchanan and Chris Levy. It was a tough match and an interesting one to referee!!
The 8th hole proved to be the turning point in the match with the defeated pair having enormous trouble keeping away from the fence line and penalty area.......
The Match committee have now made it OPTIONAL to have a referee for final matches, rather than it being MANDATORY. If you would like a referee at any time, you only have to ask one of the committee, and we will be more than willing to help you.

Whittaker’s Winners
- HFM - There are so many things to choose in this fabulous market but it can be overwhelming when you just want a couple of items to have with a drink or add to a grazing platter. I can highly recommend the freshly made HFM guacamole. It’s usually displayed on Ice, on a freestanding table as you enter the store. It has a bit of a kick to it and is delicious on a blini with a prawn on top. Another must to try is the Fresh Fodder white taramasalata in the refrigerated section. Accompany these dips with some Mission white corn chips or torn up pita bread and of course a bottle of wine. How easy is that!
- Coles - Attention all grandmas! School hols are approaching and this is a ‘must have’ in the freezer. Golden Wok (no other brands come close) chicken dim sims. These frozen little winners are bite size and have so many uses. Add them to soups, bake them in the oven, no need to fry, or simply steam them. Kids adore them added to 2 min noodles with some broccolini and shallots etc. I use chicken stock instead of water. The frozen dim sims take 8 mins to cook in this manner Don’t forget to add some soy sauce.
- K Mart - As promised, I have another super item from this rather curious store. I say that because suddenly amongst the somewhat predictable items is a ‘find’ like the faux coral. This is a jute door stopper for $7.00 and is a fun gift to put aside for a rainy day.

RULES OF GOLF
DEFINITIONS
There are over 70 defined terms and these form the foundation around which the Rules are written. A good knowledge of the defined terms ( is very important to the correct application of the Rules. Here are a few of them.....
1. Abnormal Course ConditionAny of these four defined conditions:
- Animal Hole,
- Ground Under Repair,
- Immovable Obstruction, or
- Temporary Water.
- Choosing a club,
- Making a stroke, or
- Deciding how to play during a hole or round.
- The location of things on the course such as the hole, the putting green, the fairway, penalty areas, bunkers, or another player’s ball,
- The distance from one point to another, or
- The Rules.
Interpretation Advice/1 - Verbal Comments or Actions That Are Advice
Examples of when comments or actions are considered advice and are not allowed include:
- A player makes a statement regarding club selection that was intended to be overheard by another player who had a similar stroke.
- In individual stroke play, Player A, who has just holed out on the 7th hole, demonstrates to Player B, whose ball was just off the putting green, how to make the next stroke. Because Player B has not completed the hole, Player A gets the penalty on the 7th hole. But, if both Player A and Player B had completed the 7th hole, Player A gets the penalty on the 8th hole.
- A player's ball is lying badly and the player is deliberating what action to take. Another player comments, "You have no shot at all. If I were you, I would decide to take unplayable ball relief." This comment is advice because it could have influenced the player in deciding how to play during a hole.
- While a player is setting up to hit his or her shot over a large penalty area filled with water, another player in the group comments, "You know the wind is in your face and it's 250 yards to carry that water?"
If the player lets go of a ball without intending it to be in play, the ball has not been dropped and is not in play (see Rule 14.4).
Each relief Rule identifies a specific relief area where the ball must be dropped and come to rest.
In taking relief, the player must let go of the ball from a location at knee height so that the ball:
- Falls straight down, without the player throwing, spinning or rolling it or using any other motion that might affect where the ball will come to rest, and
- Does not touch any part of the player’s body or equipment before it hits the ground (see Rule 14.3b).
The general area includes:
- All teeing locations on the course other than the teeing area, and
- All wrong greens.
Do hope you are all safe and well, and enjoying your golf and many other activities.
If you get a chance to see HAMILTON THE MUSICAL - GO!!! IT'S FABULOUS!!
SEE YOU ALL NEXT WEEK.
