What can I say ........ a beautiful day at down town Bowral with lots of ladies on the golf course.
Today was the Ladies Open Championships. A field of 47 players from the following clubs took part in the event: Bowral, Moss Vale, Highlands, Yowani, Royal Canberra, Queanbeyan, Federal & Pennant Hills.
The highlight of the day has to be a Hole in One on the 4th Hole by Satoko Hayashi from Highlands Gold Club. Congratulations Satoko. A first and one of many to come.
Damian as always had the course in excellent condition. As was remarked during the day - Royal Canberra has about 20 green staff and they are struggling to keep their course in tip top condition - Bowral has 3 dedicated staff and they always amaze us.
Thank you to the Bar & Kitchen staff - the dining room looked amazing.

Tuesdays competition was a stableford event. 17 ladies played and 4 others were on the course playing knock outs. Well done to Fran Staplefeldt and Faye Frith for winning their matches.
Jill Scott won the stableford event with 39 points and yes the handicapper caught up with Jill.
Balls went to : Jenny Ogg - 36, Robyn McGinnes - 35 and Rosemary Downing - 33 points.
Nearest the Pin and the Pro Pin wert to Jenny Ogg. Congratulations to all the winners.

Today Barbara Westwood and I ventured to Goulburn to play in the CSGA Veterans Event.
We both came home with prizes - Barbara for the Longest Drive for Division 3 and myself 4th place in Division 2.
The highlight of the day was, my playing partner, Barbara Zordrager from Moss Vale Golf Club, scoring an ace on the 11th hole. It was her first Hole in One. If you see Barbara in the street please congratulate her.

On a more mundane note I need a volunteer to assist with taking the luncheon orders on Thursday. The person is required at the Club Pro Shop about 8.00 am on Thursday where they will man a table in the pro shop assisting the filling in of the lunch order forms and then delivering them to the kitchen staff.

Today the weather at Goulburn was foul. Cold ,windy, the only things we did not have was rain and snow.
The team soldiered on. If we had only won one more hole each we would have done it. It's always if!if!!!!!!!!!!!!if!!!!.
The scores were:
Irene Gilbert - had to give 2 shots and was defeated 1up.
Anne Geddes - had to give 1 shot and was defeated 2/1
Pam Barker - had to give 3 shots and squared the match
Robyn McGinnes - had to get 2 shots and blew them out of the water , winning 7/6
Helen Chadwick had to get 2 shots and lost 1 down
Final Result - Gunghalin Lakes 3 1/2 - Bowral 1 1/2
Well done to all the ladies that wore the pink shirt during the season. Next year is another tale.
The other semi final between Royal Canberra and Highlands resulted in Royal winning 4 / 1. The final next week at Queanbeyan is between Gunghalin Lakes & Royal Canberra. We wish both teams a good match.

NEWS:
Ladies for a trial period only the ladies tee on the 14th hole will be moved across to the mens tee. This will give a straight line to the hole of about 120 metres.
I stress this is a trial period only.
I have requested from the Captain, that as the ladies will be using a 2 tee start, that it will be permissable when starting from the 10th tee to practice chipping in the vicinity of the social tees.
At Match & Greens meeting this afternoon the decision was made to prohibit chipping practice on or near the croquet green. All practice shots must be made in the area between the 1st hole and the 18th hole.

A 2 person Ambrose was played today.

Today the Bronze Pennant Team played Queanbeyan and we beat them 5 nil.

Two of our matches have been won with 5 nil scores - Well done to the members of the team.
This win makes us the winners of Pool B. We now have to play off against Pool A on 25th May.
Royal Canberra and Bowral tied with 7 match points but Bowral had 16.5 games points to 14.5 from Royal. Both teams progress to the semis against Pool A.
We are awaiting this news to be verified by the CSGA. Should be on their website in a day or 2.
