Wattle Day Open Stableford event on Thursday 4th August:
The draw is online and the computer is now open for additional entries and changes. Please let me know if you need to cancel and are playing with a visitor as I will need to replace you and/or notify them!

Foursomes Championship Entries are also open online for 11th and 18th August.

Ladies,

We are two players short for the Unity Cup next Tuesday at Bowral course(4BBB v Par). 

Moss Vale have 16 players but we only have 14, possibly one other, at this stage.

This is an urgent call for more players please! Call or email me ASAP...

Due to the course conditions and the small group of players(17), we played a modified IRISH Fun event today, teams of three with 2 scores on 'even holes' and only 1 score on the 'odd holes'.
Vicki Scanlan, Beth Chambers and Sandy Short haven't been playing much of late, but came back in emphatic style to win with 48 points. Congratulations ladies!

Don't forget the WORKING BEE on Friday , from 9-12noon or any time you can spare. There's lots to be done...bring rakes, gloves, anything that might be useful.  

The havoc being visited on our course by wild weather might be doing some 'feathered' friends out of a home!?  This "little chap' was seen perched on the fallen tree on the 17th on Tuesday surveying the scene...

Although the course was declared open this morning, the ladies voted with their 'telephones and keyboards' that it was too wet for play and withdrew from the event!
By 9am we had one player left in the draw, so no competition was conducted.

Instead we had a pleasant turn out for a relaxed lunch in the clubhouse, with one table of very enthusiastic '500' card players!
Another date will be selected by the Match Committee ASAP for the second round of the 'jinxed' Donkin Cup, and we will notify members. 

Some important reminders: 
The Unity Cup event is on Tuesday week, 2nd August at Bowral. This is a fun event, played as a 4BBB against the Moss Vale ladies. As many players as wish to play can be accommodated, so please just join in...sign up as a playing pair if you wish! 
The sheet is in the locker room or send me an email!

Wattle Day is an Open Day on Thursday 4th August. Please invite your friends for another fun day of Stableford Golf with good prizes and 'apres' golf lunch and camaraderie in the clubhouse.

I hope to see you on the course when it dries out next week.

Last Saturday was the chosen day for celebrating the team's historic win in the CSGA Bronze Shield Pennants competition. Chris Hill, Pennants team captain and organiser hosted a very "happy" afternoon at Pepperfield, attended by most of the team players and caddies from this year's season. A few photos tell the story! 
Once again, well done Team Bowral for a fantastic season and to Chris Hill for her fabulous organisation!!

Tuesday saw an Ambrose event, but the prolific match play events around this time of the year, meant the daily field was sadly depleted. Our apologies go to those who could not play due to lack of partners.
Shirley Brereton and Carol Warner were the daily winners though, with a nett 71 1/4. 

(Note: I hope that most of the match plays are coming to an end, and that future matches can be scheduled on days other than Tuesday, please!)

Thursday this week is the rescheduled Donkin Cup Round 2, but the weather "gods" are still not smiling on us, and a final decision on whether play can happen will be made Thursday morning after 730am,  or as soon as any news is heard on the state of the course.Watch this space for the latest news!

If the course is open, the event will go ahead.

If the course is closed, don't forget to come in for games (1030am)  and lunch from 12noon.

It was a shame about last Thursday’s washout, but the dozen or so ladies who gathered in the club for lunch and social catch-ups by the fire, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! 
In future, when an event is washed out like that, please “ASSUME” that we would gather in the clubhouse for games (from around 10.30am) and lunch from 12noon…it would be a great tradition to foster.

Our final Club Medal Round was played on Thursday 14th July. It was also the CSGA Diabetes Trophy Qualifying round. Your $2 payments (in the annual registration fees) will be forwarded to CSGA towards their Diabetes fundraising campaign.
Congratulations to our latest medalists who will also be eligible to represent the club at the CSGA opening day Diabetes Trophy event in February 2017:

• Anne Geddes (Division 1) - 97/77 nett
• Toni Clarke (Division 2) – 95/71 nett
• Anne Vitou (Division 3) – 111/76 nett

All three ladies completed the trifecta –  Club Medal, Best Scratch scores and Best Veterans. Great effort, ladies.
 
Anne (27) and Toni (31) also won the “Lowest’ putts , but Noela McMurray got a look in to the prizes in Division 3 with 32 putts!
Chris Hill won the $36 pro pin.  Full results are on the website.
 
Royal Canberra GC have invited us to send a team for their Annual Challenge Bowl (Stableford Team event) on 28th July.Our team has been selected and the nominations forwarded. They are:
Pam Barker, Barb Clayton, Chris Hill and Jane Clifford.

Unity Cup is an annual event played with Moss Vale Golf Club ladies, which this year will be played at our Bowral club on Tuesday 2nd August. We need as many players as possible to play the 4BBB v Par competition against the Moss Vale GC teams- It is just like any other Tuesday, so please just write your name on the sheet in the locker room! 
Wattle Day on 4th August is our annual Open Day  - please spread the word and invite your friends. Sign up sheet is in the locker room.

Last Thursday's event, the second round of the Donkin Cup Stableford Trophy has been rescheduled to Thursday, 21st July.
​The 4BBB Irish game which was on the programme for that day will  be moved to replace the Tuesday Stableford game on 26th July.
The pro shop will move any players already entered for the 4BBB Irish Game to the new date of 26th July....

There are many important events coming up, in the next month which have sign up sheets in the locker room. Please also update your diary!!

• Our final Monthly Medal Round is on next Thursday 14th July. It is also the CSGA Diabetes Trophy Qualifying round. The draw will be done after play on Thursday 7th July.
• Royal Canberra GC have invited us to send a team for their Annual Challenge Bowl (Stableford event) on 28th July. If interested please sign up by Thursday 14th as entries close on 18th July. The team of 4 will be chosen by the Match Committee to represent us.
• The local event on 28th July is now a Par game.
• The events on 28th July have been moved to later dates – Medal of Medals will be held on Thursday 10th November. The Goodwill Plate event is rescheduled to 25th August.
• Unity Cup is an annual interclub event, which will be played at our club on Tuesday 2nd August. We need as many players as possible to play the 4BBB v Par competition against the Moss Vale GC teams.
• Wattle Day on 4th August  is our annual Open Day celebrating (we hope) the emergence of Wattle in the district and the winding down of winter…! The event is Stableford across three divisions with lots of prizes – please spread the word and invite your friends.
• And then there are the Foursomes Championships on 11th and 18th August, so start getting your partners organized.

 
Congratulations to Anne Geddes, who with partner Damien Gair won the Mixed Foursomes Club Championships completed last Sunday (after many rain delays!) They managed to turn the tables on last year’s winners, Helen Chadwick and Alex Mulholland, who were Runners up.
Pam and Don Barker won the Wotton Trophy played in conjunction, with Leah and David Boyd Runners up.
