Only 15 starters played today in the CSGA Diabetes Fundraising (Stroke) event. Our best three nett scorers, who were Carol Humphreys (72), Pam Barker (75) and Jan Ferguson (75), will be entered into the “Diabetes Trophy” playoff on CSGA Opening Day 2018. 
Bowral is hosting this event next year on 1st March, so hopefully the ‘home club’ advantage will see one of them awarded the trophy!
All up, 41 players have paid $2 each towards this event this year, so we will shortly send $82 to the CSGA on your behalf to help defeat Diabetes.
Carol Humphreys won the daily competition, while Runner up Pam also won the Pro pin ($27). Anne Geddes had the best “second” shot in, to win the NTP on 12th.
 
Tuesday’s Stableford event saw a win to Helen Chadwick with 37 points, followed by Berneice Markwell with 36 points. Jenny Grant took home the Jackpotted Pro pin of $69! Cathy Maule was NTP with second shot on 12.
 
Julia Skamperle won the Par event on Saturday (+1) from Judy Windybank (-1 c/b).
 
Tuesday 3rd October
The biannual Bowral versus Goulburn Shield is on Tuesday – 12 games of Match Play from the first tee from 9am (Player 2 at 9.07, Player 3 at 9.14 etc) Morning Tea/Coffee will be available in the Pro shop from around 8.15am. (Donations of "home made" items very welcome!)
The 10th tee is open for bookings for a Stableford Game for all other players.

Our leading pair after round 1 Anne Geddes and Chris Hill (91), continued on their winning ways with an equal best score of the day 92, to retain their five shot lead over Pam Barker and Nettie Buchanan.
Congratulations Ladies! As well as having your names on the trophy and Honour board, both winners score a “Dinner for 2” voucher to the Club Anniversary Dinner in February 2018 where the trophies will be presented in front of a ‘whole of club’ audience. Runners Up will receive “Dinner for 1” vouchers per player.
 
Jenny Grant and Leonie Carroll were our Division 2 Champions by just one shot from Anne Keys and Jenny Ogg (197/198). A new trophy was donated for this event by Chris Hill (Thank you for your generosity, Chris!)
 
The team of Jan Southon and Uschi Eriksson had a come from behind win over the leading pair from last week, Anne Vitou and Shirley Brereton in Division 3. They were presented with the Baccarini Trophy.
 
In the daily event, Andrea Tomlin and Wendy Burke had a nett 70 to take the “money” by one shot from Jenny Ogg and Anne Keys. Balls went to 74.
 
CSGA Presentations:
Four of our ladies played in the annual CSGA tournament in Canberra this week. Pam Barker (CSGA President) won best Nett over 36 holes in Division 1 (162 c/b) as well as Runner up on Day 2 (79). Jill Scott claimed Best Gross score in Division 2 on Day 2 at Gunghalin Lakes (99) and Runner up in the 36 hole Scratch (212). But Sue Flaxman was the Overall winner of the Golden Jubilee Trophy (78 c/b), Best Nett in Division 2 on Day 1 at Yowani, and the Eila Fraser Award for Best Nett  Score by a Veteran 70+ . Well Done to all of you!

Don’t forget there are Foursomes Championships in all three divisions. Jenny Grant and Leonie Carroll currently lead Division 2, while Anne Vitou and Shirley Brereton have a one stroke lead in Division 3.
 
Only five teams broke the 100 ‘barrier’ in the cold and windy conditions. I hope I can promise you better conditions for next week. (But in true 'Foursomes' spirit, I will say SORRY now, just in case it doesn't eventuate!)
The draw for Round 2 is now online – please let me know if for any reason anyone is unable to play, so rearrangements can be made.
Anyone wishing to enter the daily (nett) event is now welcome to add their name at the end of the field.
 
Saturday events:
By request, this Saturday’s event has been changed from a 4BBB to a Single Stableford event. With the smaller numbers it is hard to organise enough for the team events. Any other Saturday team events scheduled this year will be similarly altered to ‘Singles’ events.
 
 
Don’t forget to sign up for the Bowral v Goulburn shield match, to be played at Bowral on Tuesday 3rd October.
We need 12 players, 4 from each division plus some reserves.
Golf will be $15 green fee with a ‘special’ lunch afterwards with the Goulburn ladies.
Any offers of ‘home made’ morning tea items will also be gratefully received for pre game ‘welcome’ snacks in the Pro shop!

Welcome back to all the players whom we haven't seen in a while!
Today’s “warm-up” event for the Foursomes Championships was very popular with 36 players contesting the Canadian variation of Foursomes.
Jill Scott and Jan Deane (14 1/4) were the victors with 71 ¾ nett, from Shirley Brereton and Sue Flaxman nett 72 1/8.
Chris Hill won the $33 Pro pin and Barbara Clayton/Sue Olson the NTP 2nd shot on 4th hole. Balls went to Barker/Mellen, Dowling/Southon and Ogg/Vitou.
 
Saturday was a single Stableford, which was won by Julie Jeffrey on 37 points. Jill Scott collected NTP on 12th.
 
Last week during the Greens renovations we invoked the “2 putt rule”. The weather deterred everyone on Tuesday, but the team of Pam Barker, Uschi Eriksson and Helen Chadwick with 52 points won the 3BBB on Thursday!
 
Entries for the first round of the 2017 Foursomes Championships on 14th September are still available online. If anyone wants to be added or needs help finding a partner, or even needs to withdraw, please contact me and I will try to ‘connect’ people!
Week 2’s playing order will be drawn from the results of week 1, so please don’t try and enter online.
 Some clarifications on GUR areas around the course have been sought, especially regarding the new works on the Lateral Hazard on the 3rd- the outcome  should be clearly in place by Thursday's play.

A sheet is in the locker room for the Bowral v Goulburn shield match, to be played at Bowral on Tuesday 3rd October. We need 12 players, 4 from each division plus some reserves, so please ‘sign up’ ASAP so we can organise our team. Golf will be $15 green fee plus lunch afterwards with the Goulburn ladies.
