Jill Scott Women's Captain President Carole:
As most of our members are now aware Carole is still inBowral Private Hospital recovering from an emergency appendectomy last Friday. She is still unsure when she will be released but not expected to be before the weekend. We all wish her well and look forward to seeing her back on the golf course sometime soon!! Games Day: This was held on Friday last and was very successful thanks to all the support given by our members and friends. It was a perfect day for indoor activities and enjoyed by all judging from the noise permeating throughout the Club!! Although a final count has yet to be done, we expect to hand over in excess of $2000 (which includes a donation) to Rainbow. Open Day championships: These are to be held tomorrow and we can only hope that the weather holds for this annual event. We have entries from many clubs and it is a great opportunity to "show off" our course. Good luck to all players. Jill Scott Women's Captain Thursday Golf:
We had 29 players today for our medal round. It was good to play on a course with some run!! The scores reflected the improved conditions. The medal winners were: Division 1: Mardi Svensson 86/72 Division 2: Jenny Grant 99/74 Division 3: Shirley Brereton 115/77 The BIG winner on the day was Fay Frith who won the pro pin and received $147!! Well done to all the winners. Open day Championships: These are to be played next Thursday 28th May. We have about 20 entries from other clubs in the Canberra as well as a good number of our own members. This is a major trophy day and we encourage as many to play as possible - it is still not too late to enter (via the pro shop) Games Day: This is to be held tomorrow and we have 13 tables - all types of games will be played and we have a number of raffle prizes on the day. The proceeds for the day will be donated to Rainbow. Jill Scott Women's Captain Medal Rounds:
Following representations made to the Committee we wish to advise that our decision to have C Grade play stableford on Medal Rounds has been rescinded. Hopefully this will meet with the approval of our C Grade players and we apologise for any inconvenience this decision may have caused to any of our members. The Open Day Championships will also be a stroke round for all divisions. 4BBB v Par Round: This GNSW event was played today with 18 pairs playing for the right to progress to the next round to be played at Queanbeyan on the 14th August. The winners who will represent our Club will be Anne Vitou and Pat Donoghue who scored a square today. We wish them luck and hope that they are able to repeat the 2014 performance of Jenny Grant and Robyn McGinnes!!. Medal Round 21st May: The draw for this event has been done and will be posted on the internet tomorrow. Any late entries may be made through the Pro Shop who have the discretion to fill any gaps in the field, or alternatively to enter players at the end of the field. Jill Scott Women's Captain Medal Days:
PLEASE NOTE: The committee has agreed that the next medal round (on the 21st May) Division 3 will play stableford. This decision will remain in force for medal rounds for the rest of the year. NOTE: The medal of medals wil remain as a stroke round across the field. The above ruling will also apply to the Open Day Championships to be held on the 28th May. Entries for both these events may now be made through a sheet in the locker room. We hope that this decision will encourage more C grade players to enter these competitions. Golf Days w/e 9th May: All scheduled events were played this week, but under very heavy conditions. Fortunately the course has now dried out a little and carts may once again be used. Results for the days may be seen by clicking on the right had side of this blog. Congratulations to all winners. The qualifying pair for the NSW Bowl played on Thursday was Leonie Carroll and Susan Harrison. A copy of their card will be sent to WGA for comparison with entries from other clubs. The overall NSW winner will be rewarded with a place in the Women's NSW Open Pro Am in March 2016 with one of the leading players. Fingers crossed girls!! We look forward to a much drier course next week - a little run would be nice!! Jill Scott Women's Captain |
