The Royal Canberra Challenge Bowl Trophy will once again bear the Bowral GC name after a decisive victory today on the new Westbourne course (slope 132).
Led by a 'best of the day' score  of 37 points from Helen Chadwick, the team of Pam Barker (31pts) , Barbara Clayton (32pts) and Anne Geddes had a 5 point margin on their nearest rivals, Gerringong GC. 
Helen also won 'Best score in Division3' and the "Div 3 Longest Drive" to cap off her ultra successful day!
Bowral last won the Challenge bowl ten years ago - Pam was also a member of that team, which is an amazing achievement. 
The trophy will stay in Canberra, but we have a beautiful glass trophy for our club's trophy cabinet, and each player won a set of engraved wine glasses.

On the local course, 15 players played a stroke round, including  the Marjorie Walker trophy for Division 2 players. Jenny Ogg was the best on a countback from Carol Humphreys, with 69 nett. The trophy winner will be decided at a later date. 

Tuesday's  Stableford round saw some incredibly good scores from Jill Scott (42 pts) from Fran Dubiez (41). 

Next week is our annual Wattle Day Open event. The draw will be done tomorrow and be on the computer ASAP afterwards.  Late entries can be taken, so please encourage any friends to come and join us for a fun day  - golf is Stableford competition, with special prizes of the day including Veterans >70.

Club Medal , Presidents Cup (Rd 3) and Veterans
 
Cold and very windy conditions prevailed for today’s stroke/medal round. Only 16 players made up the ‘exclusive’ medal group today!
 
Margaret Horwitz was the deserving winner, with a beautiful 89/nett 70 to scoop the Division 1 prize pool, except for the Putt count, which she lost on a c/b to Pam Barker (26 putts).
 
Division 2 had only 4 contestants. Helen Chadwick turned in the best nett round of the day, 96/nett 69 to record a very deserved win. Helen also won the Best Scratch score, the Veterans and the Putts(31).
 
Division 3 hosted the most contestants (7). Faye Frith was the Medal winner with 75, and also collected the Scratch (109) and the Veterans Ball, while Cathy Maule was the best with putts (32).
Pat Donoghue playing in the final group of the day, won the Pro pin ($27).
 
Today also saw a playoff for the June medal, which had resulted in a tie between Noela and Cathy, both on 78. Cathy was victorious today, with a nett 76 to claim the “delayed” Medal.
 
 
WATTLE DAY - Thursday 3rd August… Invite your friends and spread the word. It’s Stableford across two divisions with lots of prizes and we promise a day of fun and enjoyment!

Stableford (Thursday 6th July)
 
24 golfers played in almost perfect conditions.  The wind may have been a bit cool but who cares when the course finally had some run again.
 
The good conditions showed up in the results with 8 players scoring 34 – 36 points.
 
Jill Scott (23) won on 36 points on a count back from Jenny Grant (26).

American Foursomes (Tuesday 4th July)
 
24 players entered into the spirit of our red, white and blue team event.  We played American Foursomes to celebrate the 4th of July.  Some of the outfits were spectacular.  Special mentions to Pam’s giant hat and Faye’s stars & stripes jumper.
 
Chris Hill made sure the course was decorated with a special flag on the 18th green and bunting in the pro-shop.  Tim wore his US tie to keep in the spirit of the day.  Carole Turpie provided the winners with Hershey Bars.
 
A golfer visiting from San Francisco was thrilled to see the outfits and flags – perhaps he was a bit homesick.

8th July – 7 players contested a single stableford event.  Noela McMurray (38) was the winner with 36pts on a count back from Jill Scott (23).
1st July – 5 players contested a single stroke event.  Pam Barker (19) won with a net 74.
