WELCOME TO SPRING - WHAT A LOVELY DAY.  ENJOY WHILE YOU CAN BECAUSE ANOTHER CHANGE IS PREDICTED.!!!

Just a quick message to let you know that as I type this (4.40pm Monday), the Course is OPEN tomorrow, Tuesday, though NO CARTS allowed.  Please check the
Conditions of Play again in the morning at 7. 30am for any updates, as RAIN is predicted for this area.

I have spoken to Kay Brett the Captain of R.M.C. , Canberra who is bringing 10 ladies to play tomorrow.  They will still come, try the Course, if open and stay for Lunch and Presentations.  

So, if due to the predicted rain, you do not play Golf, please still come in and have a game of Bridge, Cards,Scrabble etc as the girls will be there and I would like to think some of you will join us.

Of course, we will think POSITIVE and know that the rain wont come until you are all finished!!!!

Good Evening, Ladies

THANK YOU to the 21 LADIES WHO WERE ABLE TO ATTEND THE "CAPTAIN'S LUNCH" TODAY.  I hope you enjoyed the time together and the catch up of Golf News.  It was great to see 2 new members come along today, Caillie Guinnes and Anne Maree Berle - Thank you!

Jill Scott won the Lucky Door Prize of a Bottle of Red Wine.  
There were 3 impromptu TRIVIA questions which were won by Barb Westwood,
Trish Boyd and Rosemary Downing.

Just as the men do, we hope to have these "Captain's "Lunch any Thursday that RAIN affects our Course Conditions and not able to play.

Of course, we are only rejuvenating an idea that was a regular event when it rained.  A lot of girls came, had a game, Bridge, Scrabble, Cards, Mahjong etc. and Lunch. so
do please think about this on our next rainy days and when the Course is Closed.

BARB'S WORKING BEE:  Ladies are invited to attend a working bee in the garden areas on MONDAY, 8TH SEPTEMBER from 9.00am.  Please bring gloves, secataurs, rakes etc. -  Our thanks go to Barbara Westwood for these initiatives - a little help goes a long way...!

I think it unlikely that Saturday will be dry enough to play on. - Certainly  not Carts, but of course, don't take my word for it- check - check the Course Conditions on a regular basis.  (Especially next Monday for Tuesday 2nd Sept status, as we have 10 Visitors coming from Canberra to join us.).

FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIPS DRAW - is on the Computer for 4th September, note your Tee Off time and the pair you will be playing against (with)... A seed Draw for the Second Round on 11th September will be done after results on 4/9/14.

V.I.P. NOTE:  The MEDALS OF MEDALS will now be held on THURSDAY, 9TH OCTOBER - STROKE ROUND.  Enter computer as usual. Please put a note in your Fixtures Book for this one.

GOOD AFTERNOON, LADIES

Just some items I wish to bring you up to date with:

1).  I hope many of you will respond to the email sent out re "The Lady Captains'" Lunch tomorrow.  It will be set up in the Members Room - one long table.  A Lucky Door Draw will be held at 1.00pm for those who attended.  I may throw in a few other surprises too.  It has been successful for the Men and I think it is a very good way to keep in contact with each other during these wet times!  (As you know the Course will be closed until this Friday at least. - Check out the Course Condition for the Day under Website - Our Club.

At the Lunch I wish to bring you all up to date with some changes that will occur on the Course following a Match & Greens Committee Meeting, yesterday.:
a. Bell on 10th
b. Drop Zones for 4 and 11th Holes.
c. No changes to metreage with reconditioned 18th Tee.  etc.


2)  GOULBURN OPEN DAY - 17TH SEPTEMBER. - WED. Teams of 3 - I hope some of you can come.

3)  CAPTAIN V CAPTAIN - NEW DATE -MONDAY 6TH OCTOBER, 2014 - (Long Weekend.)  Tee Times 9 - 9.45am - Enter through Computer when it is up

4) TUESDAY, 2ND SEPTEMBER - Stableford "Open " Day.  We have 10 ladies coming from Royal Military College, Canberra to join us.  I would like you to put your name down next to some of these ladies already in the system.  We want them to feel very welcome.  Thank you.  (Hopefully, the Course is Open and Carts allowed by then.)


5)  MATCH PLAY EVENTS PROGRESS:


a - Challenge Bowl - Semi Final -Bev K Clayton to play Marion Tyree. The Winner of this will play Penny McKenna in the FINALS - 
b - HASTINGS & MEG CLARKE - Bev K Clayton to play Leonie Carroll by 24/9/14.
c - BARBARA MCCARTHY MEMORIAL - Finals -Jill Scott v Helen Chadwick by 16/10/14.
d - ROSEVALE PLATE - SEMIS - Anne Vitou to play Penny McKenna 
                                     and Rosemary Downing to play Jane Clifford.
The Winner of each plays in the Finals by 16/10/14.


I suggest that with the inclement weather that Matches be played well prior to the last dates.


Thats enough for you to absorb - I do hope some ladies are reading these Blogs and do please check out the CAPTAIN'S BLOG on a regular basis to keep up with all the info re the Course and its works.

Good Morning, Ladies

As you probably know, the COURSE IS CLOSED FOR TODAY.
I don't know about you, but I am a little tired of this continual precipitation!!

Some of you may like to still go into OUR Club to play Bridge, chat and enjoy some lunch together.

Watch the Notices for the Play for THURSDAY, please.  Hopefully, it will be OK to play.

I have a MATCH & GREENS Committee Meeting TODAY at 4.pm.

Hello Ladies,

Just in case anyone checks the BLOG today!

As you would know per email that the Course is closed today AND TOMORROW, Thursday. 

This was to be the day we have the Medal of Medals.  However, the Committee had next Thursday changed from a Par to a STROKE round should there have had to be a "Play-off".

So, now Thursday, 28th August, we will have the MEDAL OF MEDALS.  Should you have won a medal during the last six months then you are eligible to play in this.
Of course, the field is open to all Players, as per our usual Comp.  Please remember to enter via the Computer.

Tomorrow, some of the ladies may gather at the Club for a game of Bridge, Cards
Mahjong, Scrabble or whatever and enjoy some lunch and friendship.
We will also be having our "secret collection" for the "new baby" so I shall see you sometime between 11am and 1.pm.  If you are not there we will also collect on Tuesday, 26th and 28th August, so don't worry if you can't be there tomorrow!

Hello Ladies,

Following on from Thursday's BLOG, we extend our CONGRATULATIONS to Robyn McGinnes and Jenny Grant for a great Score at the Regional 4BBB v Par event, yesterday.


They were RUNNERS - UP with a +7, only beaten to First Position by 1 point.
Jan Minehan and Catherine Bennet from Yass Golf Club had a +8.


We thank you girls for playing so well and thanks also to the other qualifiers, Toni Clarke and Penny McKenna who had a Square.


We have yet to have confirmation from Golf NSW whether the Runners Up qualify to go to State Finals at Bonville 26-28th November.

WATTLE DAY - THURSDAY, 14th August.

We have 50 Players with Visitors and Members.
Due to some late entries received today, I have had to make some
small adjustments.  So, please check your Tee Off Time and who you are playing with.  Please make our Visitors very Welcome.
Lots of Prizes and a Raffle to make it a fun day.  Pray for fine weather!


PLEASE NOTE:  On Thursday next, 21st August, we shall have a Donation Box for Members to donate cash towards a Gift of Cash for our lovely, new Mother-to-be, Kylie on Staff.  As we want this as a little surprise for her, perhaps we can keep it as our "secret" until a Presentation to her on 28th August.  I am sure you would all like to contribute but there is no obligation to do so.  It is entirely your decision.  The Committee thought it would be a nice way to show appreciation and also because she is having our first "Staff baby" in a very long time!


Kevin Kenny advised me that EAST LAKES GOLF CLUB in Sydney now has reciprocal rights with our Club.  That's good news!

ROYAL CANBERRA CHALLENGE BOWL was held last Thursday and the Team of Pam Barker, Jill Scott, Anne Keys and Helen Chadwick were grateful to be given the opportunity to represent Bowral Club.


There were 21 Teams representing many areas of NSW and the ACT. - The weather was a little frosty to start with but progressed to a short sleeve warm day.  The Course is a difficult one, beautiful fairways with many, (many!) treacherous BUNKERS, and large fast and some slower Greens.  We all enjoyed the company of our fellow players and were eager to see how we faired at the finish.


The WINNERS were Royal Canberra with a good 103 points. Runner Up Albury with 101 points on c/b to Gungahlin Lakes. Belconnen 99, Goulburn 97, Wagga (2) 96 & Wagga (1) 95, GoldCreek 95, Gerringong (last years Winners) 93 and BOWRAL came in 10th from 21 teams with a good 91 points.
 Points went down to 79 (Vincentia). The best 3 Scores count toward the total.  Pam Barker had 32 points, Anne Keys 30, and Helen C had 29.  Thank you all for travelling down and doing your best for our Club.

Speaking of "Captains" some 50 people attended the Captains Dinner last night.  We really enjoyed the Company, the delicious Dinner, the attentive Staff on hand to look after us, including our soon to be new Assistant Manager, Peter Katsoolis.  Kevin Burke thanked the Club Members and Staff and looked forward to another year of growth within our Club. His Captain's Trophy went to Col Collins who was unable toattend but had a great Nett 65. ( A Speaker, who will remain nameless, referred to our Captain Kevin as Kevin BROWN, not once but twice!)  It did cause some chuckles around the room.

WATTLE DAY is this Thursday, 14th.  A draw has been done and entered on the Computer.  We are using both the 1st and 10th TEES.  So please check both for your name.  It is a fun Single STABLEFORD Day with several novelty holes and prizes.  Please try and wear something YELLOW and/or Green
There will be a Raffle with 3 prizes - so bring along your snmall change.  Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. (PS. If your name is not down but wish to play, please ring me on 4872 4466 or 0427 87 00 33, as you cannot enter on the computer yourself.  Thank you.
