It was a great day for the Final round of the Foursomes Championships, with perfect weather and the course returning to near perfect condition.
The leading group went head to head, with Anne and Chris, last years champions holding a 4 shot lead from Round 1 over their chasers, Pam and Carol. 
But it was Pam and Carol who held their nerve to finish just one shot ahead at the end of the day! 
Congratulations to our new Champions! 
The Division 2 leaders from the first round also surrendered their position, to surprise pairing of Wendy Burke and new member, Clare Stanham. Chris Levy and Helen Chadwick finished runners up.
Division 3 was a different story, with all the way leaders, Carole Turpie and Rosemary Downing claiming Championship rights for the Trophy. Runners up were Faye Frith and Uschi Eriksson. Well done ladies! 

Best of the day were the mixed (divisional) pairing of Jane Clifford and Prue Taylor, with a fabulous 69 1/2 nett! Pam and Carol finished with nett 70 1/2.

Bowral Goulburn Shield – Tuesday 25th September
With Goulburn rallying at the last minute to field their full team of twelve, a great series of matches resulted!
After 8 matches, Bowral was looking good to retain the Shield with 5 wins , but the later Goulburn players had other ideas…. One win from the final four gave the first TIED result in many years, 6 wins each. As current holders of the Shield, Bowral get to retain the Shield for another 6 months, till the Autumn challenge at Goulburn course. Well Done to all players, on a very tight contest, in a very friendly and  sporting spirit.

The Club Foursomes Championship commenced today, with the second round of the 36 hole Championship continuing next Thursday.
Best score posted today was a fabulous 88, nett 69 ½ from defending champions Anne Geddes and Chris Hill. They collected the Nett prize for today, and will lead the field in the seeded draw by gross scores for the second round.
Runners up on a count back, were Maggie McKenzie and Judy Windybank , nett 71 ½ (93) from Pam Barker and Carol Warner (92).
Chris Levy and Helen Chadwick lead Division 2 after the first round (99), while Rosemary Downing and Carole Turpie (108) are the Division 3 pacesetters.
 
The “seeded draw” has been entered into the computer for next week. If you need to withdraw, please notify the Pro Shop or myself as soon as possible, so other teams can move up the time sheet. Also, Please also arrive early for your tee start, in case you have been moved up in the field!
Players also please note that in the event of a tie for the Gross scores, a Playoff will be held immediately after the results are confirmed. (See Conditions of Play).
New players are also welcome to join in the daily event, but will play at the end of the field.
 
The Presentations and Celebrations of our Foursomes Champions, both Overall and by Divisions, will take place after play next week, if you could plan on staying around to support our winners!
 
Tuesday’s Stableford was won by Berneice Markwell with 36 points! Chris Hill won the Pro pin of $52.50, and Jill Scott the Drive and Pitch on 4th hole. 
 Julia Skamperle won Saturday’s Stableford with 37 points on a count back from Jenny Ogg.

Bowral Goulburn Shield – Tuesday 25th September
Unfortunately Goulburn have not been able to field the full 12 players for this event yet, but negotiations are continuing on how best to conduct the event if a reduced number of matches are played. Please watch this space, and I will contact our team members directly if changes are made to our current playing conditions.

 UPDATE: (Sunday) A full team of 12 is now playing! Play starts from 9am.
Your opponent and your card with shots given/received will be ready on Tuesday morning. Division 2 players will tee off around 915am, and Division 3 from 930am. See you there in your Team colours by 8.30-845am.

A quick update on the CSGA Annual Tournament being played at Fairbairn GC on Sunday (Foursomes) and Murrumbidgee and Gold Creek Clubs respectively, on Monday and Tuesday.

​Course Renovations have taken longer than anticipated this season, and the improvements to the 12th fairway have also commenced to add to our playing challenges! However, this will result in even better course conditions in a short while and we will be proud of the work achieved by our fantastic Greens staff. They appreciate your patience and understanding while this is undertaken.
 
From all reports the Greenkeeper’s Revenge Ambrose Team event (introduced at short notice by the club management due to the course conditions) was quite a lot of fun!  The low marker’s team of Maggie McKenzie, Julia Skamperle and Judy Windybank mastered the conditions best of all, recording nett 63 from a handicap of 9. Well done ladies!
Robyn McGinnes must have gone home happy with her $77.50 Jackpotted Pro pin, a good pay day!
 
The “Annes”, Vitou and Geddes won Tuesday’s Canadian Foursomes, with 79 1/8. Runners up were Carol Warner and Prue Taylor on 81 3/8.
 
The Club Foursomes Championship commences this Thursday, over two rounds . Entry is online, and there are players looking for partners if anyone needs one.
Round 2 is on 27th  September and Please Take Note: Pairs will be seeded across the field on the results from Round 1.
 
The lowest player’s division determines the Division you contest i.e. if your pair has a Division 2 and a Division 3 player, you will be contesting Division 2. However, any pair can win the Overall Championship, the lowest Gross score over the two rounds wins!
 
An 18 hole handicap event across the field will be run in conjunction with the Championships on each day of play. Players in the handicap event will combine their handicaps and divide by 2 to establish their handicap on the day. Vouchers will be awarded to the winners and runners-up over the field for the daily handicap event, as per the 2 person event prize schedule. There is no 36 hole handicap event.

Bowral Goulburn Shield – Tuesday 25th September
This team for the Match Play across three divisions will be finalised on Tuesday. We have space for another Division 2 and a Division 3 player, if anyone would like to sign up. It’s a fun day against the Goulburn GC ladies, and a good introduction to Match Play if you haven’t played it much. There are some willing caddies to accompany anyone new to the Match play scene!

Please Note: The daily Stableford Event has been changed back to the First Tee, (originally scheduled from 10th tee), with players to follow the Bowral Goulburn Shield matches (from 9.42am). This should make it quicker and easier for everyone.
 
The Annual General Meeting of the Women’s Committee is on 11th October. Nomination Forms for all Committee Positions are available in the Locker Room. Nominations close two weeks before the meeting (27th September).
