Time for a Christmas Break

As the 2018 golfing calendar draws to a close we would like to wish all our members a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2019.

Single Stableford (Saturday 22 December)
Eight players competed today with the winner Anna Simons (38) blitzing the field with 43 points.

Single Stableford (Thursday 20 December)
Eight fool-hardy players managed to get around in the extreme humidity. Wet towels and a rest in the locker room were the order of the day afterwards.
Winner: Jane Clifford (26) 30 points

Single Stableford (Tuesday 18 December)
Fifteen players in ideal conditions produced some great scores.
Winner: Jill Scott (23) 38 points
Runner-up: Michelle Di Natale (10) 34 points
NTP 2nd shot 4th hole: Di Lindsay

Single Stableford (Saturday 15 December)
Four players with Pam Barker (19) the winner with 28 points.

Competitions restart on Thursday 3 January. Don't forget the SAC race - There are 7 more opportunities to post scores for this new fun event. The score sheets are on the white board in the locker room. Competition times are available from 8am during the summer - even earlier if you contact the pro-shop.

The biggest changes coming up are the new rules of golf effective from the 1st of January 2019. We will give you lots of information in the coming weeks.

The SAC race has started

Single Stableford (Tuesday 11th December)
A field of 16 enjoyed the golf today. Summer must have arrived now as there was high humidity and plenty of flies.

Winner - Robyn McGinnes (30) 34 points
Runner up - Pam Barker (20) 33 points c/b
NTP 2nd shot 4th - Jane Clifford

The pro pin ($30) was not won and will jackpot to next Tuesday.

The SAC race has started! (Summer Aggregate Competition)
Don't forget our special Summer Stableford competition running from now until Opening Day next year. Make sure you fill in your score on the special sheets attached to the white board in the locker room. Your best 6 scores from the 12 stableford rounds we have nominated will count towards our special prize. The club has provided a bottle of Moet for the winner.

There was no golf yesterday (13th December) due to the rain so we have changed the listed event next Thursday (20th December) from Par to Stableford. This round will count towards the 12 nominated stableford rounds.

Closing Day 2018 & Major Trophy Presentations

We started the afternoon with a special award to Shirley Brereton. Our President Barb Clayton was delighted to present Shirley with her 80 year hat clip from the Veteran Women's Golf Association. Congratulations Shirley and we hope you are still golfing when it is time for your 90th to be awarded.

Closing Day Event (Thursday 6 December)
Today we played a fun team event over 16 holes. Teams of 3 with 1 score counting on par 3 holes, 2 scores on par 4 holes & 3 scores on par 5 holes. This format produced a very close result with all 13 teams' results falling within the 55-45 points range.

The winners were Gloria Campbell (27), Robyn McGinnes (30) & Sue Olson (27) with 55 points.
Runners up - Carol Warner (21), Carole Turpie (33) & Julie Jeffery (21) with 54 points.

A feature of the day is always the best dressed team. Over the years there have been some very creative outfits. One major (and possibly limiting) proviso is that the team must play golf in their creations. This year's winning fairies Rosemary Downing, Jan Ferguson & Anne Keys made such an impact on some visiting players from Canberra that they had to take photos to prove to their wives they weren't seeing things.

Of course closing day is not just about the golf.

The grazing table lunch was fabulous thanks to Regina and her helpers.

Sandy Short provided very interesting entertainment with a presentation about the Donohoe bespoke range of clothing options.

The raffle was a great success thanks to donors Pam Barker, Carol Humphreys, Anne Geddes, Jan Deane, Jane Clifford & the Berida Day Spa.

President Barbara Clayton thanked all the staff at the club and presented Christmas gifts on our behalf. Thanks Kevin, Tim, Regina, Bar Staff, Stuart, Darryl, Damian and the greens staff.

(Single Stableford (Tuesday 4th December)

A good field of 24 players with some very good scores.

Winner: Jan Ferguson (25) 35 points.
Runner up: Carol Warner (21) 34 points.
NTP 2nd shot 4th: Jan Ferguson
Pro-pin ($17.50) was not won so will jackpot to Tuesday 11th.

Champion of Champions & Combined Christmas Cheer (Highlands 27th November)

The champions from our three district clubs played off for this prestigious trophy - Pam Barker (Bowral), Satoko Hayashi (Highlands) and Chris Irish (Moss Vale). Chris won from Satoko on the 4th playoff hole. Bad luck Pam but a very tough ask with such a large handicap difference. Thank you Chris Hill for performing you caddy duties for Pam.

Nine other Bowral members also competed in mixed teams for the Combined Christmas Cheer. Our only prize winner was Robbie McGinnes playing in the 2nd placed team.

Single Stableford (Tuesday 27th November)

Only 8 players as many of us were at Highlands.

Winner: Rosemary Downing (36) 36 points.

Single Stableford (Saturday 24th November)

Ten players with Carole Turpie (34) winning the day with 34 points. Carole also took out the NTP 2nd shot 15th hole.
