FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIPS POSTPONED...

Important NEWS:
Today the Match Committee agreed on the following changes to the Women’s Golf Programme due to the EXCEPTIONAL course conditions and anticipated further rain this week:

THE FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIPS will be postponed until later in the year - 14TH AND 21ST SEPTEMBER
If the course is open on Thursday, a 4BBB event will be held for those able to play. CARTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED AT ALL THIS WEEK.
NO Extensions to the Knockout schedule will be made for the JUBILEE FOURSOMES matches(Round 1 to be completed by Tuesday 11th April)
A two-week extension will be granted for the Challenge Bowl Singles Knockout Matchplay event. Round 1 will now be completed by WEDNESDAY 26th APRIL.
Completion dates for subsequent rounds have been adjusted and will be amended on the Draw in the locker room.

Pennants WIN...A Clean Sweep!

The "Amazing" Bowral Team went to Belconnen today, and in cloudy but fine conditions, recorded what was our first 5-0 victory for quite some time, over Pool leaders Gold Creek GC in the Bronze Shield Pennants!

Pam got us off to a great start, walking in with the 'thumbs-up' sign as she passed me for a 7/5 win . Jan Deane fought all the way to the 17th for a 3/1 victory. Jane Clifford and Cathy Maule finished with the enormous margins of 6/5 and 7/6!! Meanwhile I was down -1 after 10 holes, but redeemed myself with 5 straight holes (including 4 pars) to come away with the win 4/3.
Well Done to everyone - it's been a winning streak this week! All we need is some dry weather locally to get all our players back on course...

And thanks to the 17 ladies who 'graced' the long table lunch with lovely 'chef's specials, lucky prizes and a few glasses of bubbles on Thursday. It was fun, and we will do it again (although we would really prefer to play golf!)

BOWRAL retains Shield at Goulburn, Weather Disruptions and Pennants Team...LUNCH AT 12 NOON !

***NEWS FLASH**** :
THURSDAY 23RD - 9AM "ROLL-UP" START FOR 12 HOLES OF GOLF,
ONLY IF COURSE IS OPEN
(Normal Green Fees $15, but extra prizes in the Clubhouse afterwards).
LUNCH IS DEFINITELY ON, PLEASE COME AND ENJOY CAMARADERIE, LUCKY PRIZES AND PRESENTATION OF BDSA AWARDS...FROM 12NOON.

BOWRAL scored a narrow win 6 1/2 - 5 1/2 today, a great 'Away' victory on Goulburn's course. We retain the shield for another six months, until the return match at home in October.
The matches were played in a great spirit of camaraderie, on a very nice course (with even some run!). The forecast storms didn't eventuate and the occasional shower of rain was mild by Bowral weather standards at present...
Well Done to all the team members on a great result!

Thursday's Club and Golf NSW Medal Round has been Postponed to April 20th.
If the course is OPEN on Thursday, a Stableford round (possibly just 12 holes non-handicapped) will be held to give members a game.

Long Table LUNCH IS DEFINITELY ON FROM 12 NOON, and the Presentations of the Medals and Certificates from the Berrima District Sports Awards will be held at 1pm, if enough players and members are present.
Champagne may possibly be involved too...!

BOWRAL VERSUS GOULBURN SHIELD IS ON!!!
It’s much drier at Goulburn and Carts are allowed… Good Luck to our team defending the Shield tomorrow. (I have remembered to take it with me this time, but I do hope to be bringing it back again!)
Please wear Bowral team shirts if you have one, and white bottoms or whatever suits you in the weather conditions.
TUESDAY - 21ST MARCH AT GOULBURN GOLF CLUB
8.30 for 9am start.

BRONZE SHIELD PENNANTS :
Bowral team played at Royal Canberra last Thursday. Unfortunately they went down 4/1, with Anne the only winner on the day against Yowani GC (her opponent played off 6!) Everyone else had to give shots, so it was a ‘hard day at the office’…
Well done, ladies. The team for this Friday at Belconnen will be announced shortly.

CLUB MEDAL Round – Thursday 23rd March:
The draw has been done and is in the locker room.
Hopefully we will be able to play, although I have just spoken with Damian our Green-keeper, and he isn’t hopeful…. Any more rain before Thursday and the course will close again. “Carts will definitely not be allowed this week”, he says “it’s very boggy”.
Watch this space for an announcement on Wednesday as to the state of play.

Otherwise, it’s a Captain’s “LONG TABLE” lunch in the clubhouse!

Our team is listed below. Ladies please check your emails for further information re transport (car pooling) and uniform (navy shirt/white bottom) and message or email me as requested.

We have the bare minimum of players; so if anyone is keen to come, please let me know availability as a reserve or caddy? It’s a fun day out and possibly a bit drier in Goulburn than here at the moment!

HELP!!! PLEASE ….
THE BOWRAL VERSUS GOULBURN SHIELD IS ON TUESDAY WEEK - 21ST MARCH AT GOULBURN GOLF CLUB
This is a 12-person Match Play event, four players in each division.
SO far we only have 6 names down. Please call or message me if you can play in this FUN competition, before I have to start personally phoning players. You are allowed caddies, so this is an ideal place for newer and less experienced Match Players to learn what it’s all about. And we also need the seasoned players to play as well! (Or offer to caddy?)
We have lunch and golf, usually for the total cost of $10-$15, so it’s cheap as well as fun! And Goulburn ladies do the BEST morning teas!!
CHALLENGE BOWL SINGLES KNOCKOUT DRAW:
The draw is done and is on the NoticeBoard. Please ensure your first round Match is played by the due date (13th April). A copy is attached below (apologies for the quality of the photo) .
THURSDAY STABLEFORD:
The course is still wet underfoot, but fortunately not much rain today. Only 7 players, which included 3 visitors from Oatlands and Pennant Hills, made it round the course, Susan Harrison won with 32 points.
WHALES TOOTH MATCH – 10 ladies played for Bowral against the Australian Golf Club in a friendly match today. The ladies held up their part, winning 3 and squaring 2 matches! Overall the Bowral GC won 11½ -4 ½, so the Trophy stays with us for a change.
BRONZE SHIELD PENNANTS 2017:
Bowral is host Club this week, with 30 players and caddies from Goulburn, Gold Creek, Yowani, Yass, Royal Canberra and Belconnen travelling to play the round. Thanks to the committee ladies who have helped with providing morning tea, and to Carole Turpie for being our starter. I’ll be the one doing the paperwork in the clubhouse!
GOLF NSW SUMMER MEETING:
The 36 Hole Event was held at Bowral on Monday and Tuesday (Divisions 1 and 2 playing alternately with Moss Vale GC) and teams events were at Highlands and Mt Broughton on Wednesday and Thursday. Some of our members played – Pam and Jane in the singles, Pam and Helen in the Foursomes, and Pam, Helen Chadwick, Anne Vitou and Chris Hill, who finished equal 6th with +4 in the 4BBB v Par game today. Well done ladies!
Thanks to Carole, Carol, Cathy, Chris, Leah and Shirley who all assisted with “meet and greet”, directions and morning tea supplies. Much appreciated everyone. We presented a very welcoming image for our visitors...!

Brave effort from Bronze Shield players...

In dry, windy conditions, we played our best, but couldn't defeat an experienced Belconnen team! Barb won 5-4 and Pam 'squared' her match, to see us lose 3 1/2 - 1 1/2. Plenty of time yet for us to play into some form and who knows what 'upsets' will occur amongst our opponents! Photo below was taken before we teed off!!

Results, Pennants, CSGA Opening Day, etcetera...

At least the BLOG is up and running, even if the booking sheet is not yet. The club is doing its best to resolve the computer issues, so please have patience!
Meantime please call the Pro shop for all booking enquiries.

THURSDAY STABLEFORD:
It was wet underfoot, but not too showery today. 18 players made it round the course, with Helen Martin coming back to form with 32 points, from runner–up Susan Harrison on 31 points. Jill won the $15 pro-pin, and Helen also the NTP with second shot, on 4th hole.

TUESDAY STABLEFORD:
As the rain fell and the numbers diminished, we decided to make this a single Stableford event. Pam Barker won the day with 28 points.

CSGA OPENING DAY at Federal Golf Club (27th February):
Six players represented our Club at this event which hosted more than 100 players from 13 clubs. The course was fabulous and some of the scores were too - The winner had a net 66!
Helen Chadwick was best from Bowral as Runner up in Division 2 with nett 74. Pam and Barbara also won a ball with nett 78’s.
Helen took the mantle from Pam as our raffle winner of the day!

BRONZE SHIELD PENNANTS 2017:
The first round is on tomorrow at YASS Golf Club – our team of Pam Barker, Chris Hill, Barbara, Helen Chadwick and Jane Clifford are keen and organized (by Jane!) to attempt to defend the shield from last year. GO TEAM!

BERRIMA DISTRICT SPORTS AWARDS 2016 -
You may have heard by now, that the Bronze Shield Pennants team WON the Senior Team of the Year (from 11 other nominees). We intend to celebrate this one more time, on Thursday 23rd March, after the Club Medal round.
Everyone is welcome to stay and share a drink!
Thank you to all the members who have forwarded their congratulations by phone, email, and in person!

NEXT WEEK IS THE GOLF NSW SUMMER MEETING:.
The 36 Hole Event is being held at Bowral on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th (Divisions 1 and 2 playing alternately with Moss Vale GC). There are timed tee starts from 830am from both 1st and 10th tees.
NOTE: There is no play for club members on Tuesday, but Thursday is back to normal play.
