Four teams came in with a NETT SCORE of 81. After much deliberation and checking of the Golf Australia scoring system, 6th 7th and 8th positions were announced! The top eight qualifying pairs now go on to Match Play knockout games. The draw for the first round is below: (to be played by 15th April)

 16 teams contested the event today.

I believe many players hired a cart and started early to help combat the VERY hot weather…let’s hope it doesn’t stay around for too long.
 
Tuesday's Ambrose 
Chris Hill, Jan Ferguson and Sue Harrison teamed up for the win in the Ambrose event (68 5/6), collecting $15 each. Runners Up were Judy Windybank, Faye Frith and Jan Lane (70 ½). Faye also won the Pro Pin of $18. Balls went to 73 ½ on a count back.
 
Saturday Stableford
Jill Scott (36pts) won from a big field for a Saturday of 16 players!
Jan Deane won NTP 2nd shot /12th hole, balls went to 30 on a count back.
 
PENNANTS TEAM FOR 11TH MARCH

Donkin Cup Round 1:
The First round of this long standing donated club trophy attracted 37 players today, all of whom we hope will remain in contention by playing in the second round (scheduled for July). (It’s a long time away I know, but keep it in mind, as you need to play in both rounds to be eligible for this trophy!)
 
Anne Geddes (30pts) led home Division 1 from Judy Windybank (29 c/b). Division Two winner and the best on the day was Andrea Tomlin (35pts), with runner up Sue Olson (32 c/b). Uschi Eriksson(28pts) defeated Shirley Brereton (27pts)  for Division 3 honours. Balls went down to 27 points on a count back.
 
Anne Geddes also won NTP on 4th (2nd shot) for Div 1 with Vicki Scanlan (Div2). Div 3 was not won today.
 
The Pro Pin was a jackpot of $90 and Carol Warner was the lucky winner!!
 
Pennants (Representative Interclub) Golf:
The match Committee recently selected the club’s representative team for the upcoming Pennants season starting on 11th March with a home game. Ten players have been selected from the 16 nominees, with the remainder being reserves for the competition.

Tuesday Competition: Stableford
29 players enjoyed the lovely course conditions today. Jenny Ogg won Division 1 (32pts) on a count back from Robyn McGinnes .
Similarly in Division 2, Anne Spiden (35pts) was a countback winner from Sandy Short.
Anne Keys won NTP 2nd shot on 12th hole, and Chris Hill was excited to win the Pro pin of $33.
 
Ball winners (to 29 on a c/b) were Faye Frith, Jill Scott, Anne Geddes, Jan Lane, Jenny Alexander, Pat Donoghoe, Wendy Burke and Sue Olson.
 
2 players got to the starting line for the 10 hole competition – Rosemary Pettiford won 2 balls (6pts) from Ellie Scott. A few others played socially behind the field.
 
CSGA Opening Day – Thursday 3rd March at Queanbeyan Golf Club
This is always a fun day and a chance to mingle with other clubs from our regional association, of which our own Pam Barker is the Vice-President!
Queanbeyan is a lovely course, so give it your serious consideration! Details on the sheet in the locker room, and car-pooling may be an option.
 
 Entries Close 19th February for Golf NSW –Summer Meeting: 7-10th March
The flyer for this competition, to be held in the Highlands including Bowral course on 7th and 9th March, is on the notice board.

Medal round:
Clean sweeps were the order of today’s medal rounds!
Medal winners and also winners of Scratch, and Veterans prizes by division were:

Congratulations to you all, our first contenders through to the annual Medal of Medals Round later in the year.
 
Runners up by division were Pam Barker (94/76), Wendy Burke (100/76) and Uschi Eriksson (111/83). ($10 voucher).
 
The extra competition of the day was “Count your Putts”. Winners were Jill Scott (26) (again!), Toni Clarke (27) and Noela McMurray (again!) (29).
 
Ball winners were Carol Warner, Helen Chadwick, Irene Gilbert, Anne Keys, Jenny Grant, Bev Kemp Clayton, Carole Turpie, Robyn McGinnes and Barb Clayton (82 c/b).
 
31 players enjoyed the warm day on the course, which rated at 74 DSR.

Our annual Singles Match play knockout Trophy, known as the “Challenge Bowl”
Is now open for registration. The sign-up sheet is in the locker room.
All members are eligible to play in this competition upon payment of the prescribed fee ($4). A draw will be conducted after 5th March for the first round of matches.
Full Conditions of Play are available to view online or on the noticeboard.
 
10 Hole Competition:
We have some players registered for next week’s competition, hooray!!
 
This competition will be available every Tuesday after the 18-hole competition. Cost is $10 for 10 holes (1-4,13-18) and designed for newer players to play a manageable game, or anyone not ready or willing to tackle the full 18 holes.
A minimum of two players is required for a competition.
Please enter via the computer (or call the pro shop) in the slots immediately after the 18-hole competition. You will need to start promptly after the 18-hole field to avoid clashing at the 13th hole!
 
Coming Events:

Donkin Cup – Stableford golf competition played over two rounds: Round 1 is 18th February, Round 2 is 7th July. You can play in the daily competition on either day, just enter as normal via the computer.
 
Jubilee Foursomes: Thursday 25th February. Entry is via the computer also.

Tuesday’s Results:
Our 3BBB game was well supported today, 27 players! Carol Warner, Jan Ferguson and Pam Barker were best on course with 43 pts ($20 vouchers) from Anne Geddes, Marion Tyree and Barb Clayton with 42 pts (c/b).
Faye Frith was on target today taking out both the Pro Pin and the NTP (2nd shot) on 12th. Congratulations Faye!
 
Saturday: Stroke Round
Ellen Neale won the voucher ($15) and the Saturday Cup points with net 78. Runner Up was Jenny Ogg (79) and balls went to Wendy Burke (80) and Helen Chadwick (81).
 
10 Hole Competition:
Our 10 hole Competition almost got off the ground today, but please persevere ladies. We will eliminate the first round  ‘nerves’ soon and hopefully get it right for next week. Full details are printed again here:

Opening Day 4th February 2016
 
Famous last words “I think it will be fine on Thursday”, I said!
 
Well it was as wet on course as I have seen it, and unfortunately the Presidents v. Captain’s trophy wasn’t contested. We hope the Match Committee may reschedule it, so ‘watch this space’ …
For the keen (stupid?) golfers who played the 16 hole single Stableford competition, a measly 23 points won me the day, from Pam Barker (22), Anne Geddes and Jan Deane.
But THANK YOU to all of you who turned up for golf, or games, lunch and the trophy presentation. The room looked great with flowers (blue and gold) by Leah Boyd and Di Mellen, and chocolates supplied by the President and Captain. And I do appreciate that everyone was so cooperative and understanding about the golfing decisions.... 
 
Major trophies presented were the “Saturday Ladies Cup” for stroke rounds during the calendar year 2015: won by Stephne Whiteway to much applause!
 
The Jean Derrin Jug for the Most Reduced Handicap in the calendar year 2015: won by Leonie Carroll. Thank you to Noela McMurray our handicapper who donated and presented the trophy and a prize of a beautiful plant to a surprised and delighted Leonie! (see photo).
 
Genelle Almaide has conducted the ‘Birdies and Gobblers’ Board for 15 years and has handed it over this year to Pam Barker who has volunteered to administer it. The new board is now ‘ready for action’ in the locker room!
 
Next Week’s Monthly Medal Round
 
The draw is in the locker room and on the computer for next week’s Medal Round. (11th February).

The draw is online and in the locker room- it’s a shotgun start 8 for 8.30am.
 
Lunch is a set menu for $20, Golf is $15. Please pay for both at the Proshop on the day. Lunch only people should pay at the bar.  
 
The competition is Presidents team (Please wear BLUE) versus the Captain’s team (Please wear GOLD) with 4BBB Stableford.
 
Carole and I are looking forward to hosting a very competitive and fun day!
 
Tuesday 2nd February:
 
A good field of 23 players turned out today with another 2 groups of new players learning to play competition and scoring. Thanks to President Carole for accompanying the newer golfers today.
 
DSR of 75 indicates how heavy the course was, but Faye Frith managed a clear win with 32 points, from Anne Keys (29).
NTP on 12th was Jan Deane, and Jenny Ogg won the Pro pin ($36).

Entries close on Monday 8th Feb.
 
See you Thursday! If weather is a problem Lunch and the trophy presentation will still go ahead, but I am pretty hopeful we will have fine weather…
