The format for our meeting yesterday needed to meet COVID-19 conditions. Attendees were seated at tables and spread throughout all three rooms. The meeting ran smoothly and as we were unable to have formal presentations the recognition of our major trophy winners was also streamlined.
I have added the list of trophy winners for 2020 under useful information at the right. Please note that paper vouchers have not been issued this year but all prize monies will be automatically added to your account.
The trophy table looked very impressive. A special thanks to Chris Levy for arranging to have each of the trophies engraved in time for the meeting and polishing them so they all looked magnificent as this photo shows.
Major Trophy and Prize Winners 2020
The winner of the President's Cup was Anne Keys. This event is based on the 2 best nett scores from 3 stroke rounds (Medal rounds 1, 3 & 5).
The winner of the Captain's Trophy (McLeish Cup) was Pam Barker. This event is based on the 2 best scratch scores from 3 stroke rounds (Medal rounds 2, 4 & 6).
I was delighted to announce that Suzanne Ayre and Virginia Wozniak were the state winners of the Golf NSW Bowl. Suzanne and Virginia scored 50 points in this 4BBB event played earlier this year - what a result - no wonder they won the state award. As well as a certificate and vouchers from Golf NSW, the prize also includes entry in to the NSW Women's Open Pro-am where they will be teamed up with a top professional player.
For those of you not able to attend the meeting here is the list of Women's Playing Members Committee 2021 that were elected at the General Meeting.
President - Pam Barker
Vice President - Helen Chadwick
Captain - Anne Geddes
Vice Captain - Ellen Goodwin
Secretary - Barbara Clayton
Committee - Christine Levy & Noela McMurray.
Congratulations to you all.
Closing Day - Thursday 3 December
This 3 person 1, 2, 3 countdown event will be held next Thursday. Scoring will be 3 scores on par 5 holes, 2 scores and par 4 holes and 1 score on par 3 holes. We have set up a limited number of starting tees for a shotgun start.
By now you will have received an email from Barb Clayton advising that we have reached our limit for lunch bookings. Here is a copy as a reminder.
"Good news and bad news this morning....
Bad news is that we have reached our numbers limit for the Club next Thursday of 48 guests booked for lunch, (45 golf and lunch, 3 lunch only).
Good news is that golf places are still available for the 3BBB (1,2,3 Countdown) event and can still be booked online.
Most importantly, it would be greatly appreciated if anyone who is booked already, but has to cancel lunch, could let us know ASAP.
We will take names for a waiting list in case this happens and let you know by email.
Please pay for your golf and lunch booking ($40) at the PROSHOP by next Wednesday afternoon, so we can monitor the numbers.
The Club unfortunately was not able to increase the capacity under the new restrictions for next week, so we have to proceed as per their advice.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation."
Please make sure you let us know if you are booked for golf and do not plan to attend the lunch.
New Captain - Annie Geddes
Annie and I have arranged to do a handover of the Captain's role during this coming week so your next blog is likely to come from her. I have enjoyed my time on the BGC committee as Treasurer, Vice Captain and Captain. I have learnt a lot and at times it was challenging but mostly very satisfying thanks to the support from you the members.
