It was lovely to see so many of our Members playing in our JUBILEE FOURSOMES QUALIFYING ROUND, today.

 (Due to computer problems, our Card ladies resorted to manual labour, and being human, we had missed one card being checked properly)! The winners, Jenny Ogg & Sandy Short with their Markers, realised a mistake had been made in their additions, and notified the Committee immediately after the Presentations. Thank you girls, It was good to know that straight away! So there are some changes in the final list, compared to what was announced this afternoon at Presentation.

We wish everyone playing in the GNSW SUMMER COMP next week good golfing and we are proud that Bowral has guests here on our Course for 3 days out of 4!  You will notice how well the "Dad's Army" and our wonderful Green Staff have been working on the Course so that it  is in tip top condition for our many Visitors.  Thank you,guys - what would we do without you!

Dear Ladies

Please read the following note from the Management:

On Thursday, 6th March, 2014 there are 18 Ladies off the 1st Tee between 8 and 9.00am.

From 9 - 11am, the tees will be blocked off and NO PLAY during that time as the Top Dressing of Greens will be carried out  by a hired machine and cannot be done on any other time.
Thank you for your co-operation.


Note:  The Lady Captain versus Men Captain Team event set down for 2nd March has been postponed.  It will be discussed further after Captain Kevin arrives back from New Zealand next Thursday.  A NOTICE IN CLUB NEWS AND THROUGH THIS BLOG should inform you of that date.

Today we had a PAR game with 24 Players, including a Visitor, Rose Quan from Warringah Golf Club.


Rose enjoyed herself so much she decided to come in the Winner with a SQUARE Score on a h'cap of 35.  Well done, Rose.

Hello, Friends, Romans & Countrymen/women!---  LOOK, LOOK, LOOK!!!

OUR GIRLS HAD A STUPENDOUS WIN TODAY IN THE BRONZE SHIELD PENNANTS.!!

Bowral defeated the Goulburn Team, having to give many shots to them as set out below!

Pam Barker gave 5 shots to Marilyn who defeated her by 4/2 - A great try.
Anne Geddes played a great match giving 6 shots to Vicki and won 5/4.
The "Star of the Day Award" goes to Preso Anne Keys who had to give 9 shots to Ros and WON 2 UP!!!! 
Barbara Clayton who gave 7 shots to Annie and WON 2 up - Great result.
and our 5th Player Toni Clarke gave 8 shots and won 4/2 - Very impressive.

SO WE WON 4/1 - THANK YOU AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO PLAYED WITH TREMENDOUS HEARTS and stepped up to the challenge!

All the visitors commented and thanked us for the great conditions of the Course, the tasty lunch and the warmth and friendliness of our Club.

My personal thanks to Kevin K and all the Staff was extended by email today.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO CAROLE TURPIE AND ROSEMARY DOWNING WHO WERE THEre TO ASSIST ME  WITH ALL THE PAPERWORK FROM 7.45AM UNTIL 2.30PM.

We had 36 Ladies, including Visitor, Denise Rickard, join us today in a 4BBB competition.

At the beginning of the Presentations, I presented the Div 3 Club Medal, $20 Voucher and Vets Ball to CATHY MAULE, who couldn't be present last Thursday.
Well done, Cathy!

Keeping that ball rolling, Cathy also brought her partner, Anne Geddes in to win on 41 points!!  $10 voucher each.

A short version of today's Reminders & Notes :

1).  This SLOW PLAY by some Players has to improve - Penalties will occur in future.
2)   Please bring your CARDS into the Club BEFORE you change your shoes etc.
These 2 points cause ripple effect for Players and our Card ladies.
3)   It is a RULE that you must have your BALL marked with an identifying mark -
very important should you need to ascertain it is actually your ball in ANY competition.
4)  Remember to check all Flyers in Ladies Locker Room - Opportunities to visit other clubs and meet new Ladies.
5)   GOULBURN/BOWRAL SHIELD at GOULBURN.  Sheet out for interested Players.
4 in each Division.  Teams will be selected. 
6)   GUNGAHLIN LAKES OPEN DAY. -CSGA EVENT - We would like to see Bowral ladies well represented!
7)   A  REMINDER that Thursdays have a Trial of 8 to 9am Tee Times off both 1st and 10th Tee.  Please try to adhere to these times.  It should cut down the long wait some earlier players have.  I think some people may not have heard about this one - I will reiterate on Thursday.
8).  Please try to be at Tee 15 mins before your time - you may have to move up should anyone have cancelled overnight.  Thank you.


We are Hosting the BRONZE SHIELD PENNANTS here this Friday. 40 ladies plus some caddies will play off from 8.30am to 10. - Lunch provided.  We wish our girls good luck.

PLEASE NOTE:  I attended M & G Committee Meeting this afternoon and it is confirmed that any ephemeral work being done in laying pipes etc in Hazard areas IS TO BE CLASSIFIED GUR - it should be marked - So basically, should your ball go into the water way (eg) 2nd Hole - you will get a free drop, no nearer to the hole.

Good Afternoon, Ladies.

26 ladies played in a STABLEFORD Competition today. We extend a warm welcome to a Visitor from Howlong Golf Club, Christine Hill.  She will also join us on Thursday's STROKE Round. ( By the way,Christine - How long is your Golf Club?) I guess it would depend on which club you were using!

Di Mellen was our Winner on h'cap of 35 and with 37 points. - $15 voucher.
Congratulations, Di - your GA h'cap is now down to 31.4 and in Division 2.

The JEAN DERRIN TROPHY was presented to JUDY MAUDE today for having the most reduced Handicap in 2013. - Judy was unable to be present on OPENING DAY last Thursday so that is why she received it today.  Well done, Judy!


The first MEDAL STROKE ROUND will be played this Thursday, 13th February, in conjunction with Stableford round and Ball comp.  Remember count every Stroke you do until you get into the hole.  Then also write your stableford points in column next to the number of strokes.  The computer will give both scores when you enter the card inthe computer back at the Club.


An UP TO DATE DRAW has been entered into the Computer.  Due to some good scores today, some ladies have reduced their h'cap to go into a different/lower Division.  PLEASE CHECK THE COMPUTER BY WED NIGHT as you may have been in at 1st Tee but now are in Div 2 off the 10th Tee.


BRONZE SHIELD PENNANTS - Our first round in Canberra last Friday was very hot and tiring.  Pam was our trusty Winner with 2 up but the other 4 tried valiantly on a strange and long course.

What a huge day OPENING DAY has been - Heaps of preparation required before the day, then the endless phone calls, emails and lists to get us all there at 8.am.
But it was all worth it to see so many golfers decked out in their blue and yellow shirts and happy faces everywhere!

47 Ladies played a 4BBB game and the WINNERS on a c/b were:

Pamela Barker and Di Mellon with 42 Points - A $20 voucher each.

Runners up were:
Uschi Eriksson & Sally Knackstedt - 42 points - $15 voucher each.
BALLS TO:

McMurray & Frith, Scott & Beer, Turpie & Ogg, Keys & White - However, the computer did not print out the first list correctly, so Harrison & McGinnes, & McKenzie & Anderson, also received balls.  It's all good - NTP was apparently won by Toni Clarke (no-one had advised us until after presentations, or brought the Pin back in.) Sorry Toni, so please collect a ball next time you play.
The Drive & Pitch on the 15th was won by our newest Member, Susan Harrison.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL!!!!!

The OVERALL TEAM WINNER THIS YEAR WAS THE "captain's team" - the yellow team - Well done, good and faithful servants!! - The Score was 417 to 407, so very close.

The JEAN DERRIN TROPHY for the most reduced HANDICAP in 2013 was awarded to
JUDY MAUDE - who unfortunately, was not able to attend.
The SATURDAY TROPHY WINNER was Pamela Barker for the 3rd consecutive year -Well done, Pam - (Come on, Saturday girls, let's  mount a challenge in 2014)!

The BIRDIES for SATURDAY COMP was won by STEPHNE WHITEWAY
GOBBLERS was won by Helen C but gifts were given to second place winners, Pam Barker & Stephne Whiteway, as Helen donates these prizes.

This year everyone puts their Birdies & Gobblers on the MAIN SHEET in the Ladies Locker Room wall.  Thank you GENELLE  ALMAIDE for arranging this and donating to the winners at CLOSING DAY.

OPENING DAY is this Thursday.  Your names are entered on the computer.
It is 8.00 for 8.30 Shotgun Start.  4BBB - President team wears Blue and Captain, yellow.  There is also a "manual sheet" in the Locker Room showing which Hole number  you  are teeing off from.  I would like everyone to start ON TIME, please.

GOLF IS $15 - Pay at Pro Shop when you get your card AND LUNCH is a plate of mixed sandwiches & fruit $10 - to be paid for at the Bar when you come in.
We will be in the "big" room and Presentations will take place as soon as lunch is finished.  I do hope everyone will be able to stay for this, as you may have won a trophy or prize!!!!!
