Winners of the Aussie Lamb Dinner Packs: Dennis Neale, Ellen Neale, Sue Harrison and Gary Harrison !
AUSTRALIA DAY EVENT:
The weather cleared just in time for us! However the course was wet and heavy and ‘preferred lies’ would have helped. Some of the 66 starters weren’t deterred though, with the team of Sue and Gary Harrison and Ellen and Dennis Neale coming home with 88 pts.
The runners Up were Frank Lapinski, Norm Dodds, Dennis Cooper and Keith Markwell (86 pts c/b).
President Carole put togther some great Australian themed prizes: Lamb Roast and Veggies and Mint Sauce for the winners, Aussie wine for the R/U, and Lamingtons and Golf balls for the special events.
Carole was one of the winners (Straightest Drive on 1st) along with Eddie Jones for the men, and Sue Harrison won NTP on 6th. The men couldn’t crack the 15th green from the ladies tee, so the prize was awarded to the only brave ’twosome’ who played: David Stanley and Brian Hanrahan.
The ‘Aussie’ decorated clubhouse was a welcome sight for most of us…the meals were well received and camaraderie was the winner on a well celebrated Australia Day. Thanks to Kevin Kenny and the staff for a job well done, especially Kevin who was covering both the Proshop and the Clubhouse in the absence of Stuart due to ill health. Stu is reported to be recovering well and we wish him all the best.

25 players for the Summer Ball Competition is a great effort, ladies!
The winner of $15 voucher was Jenny Ogg (34pts). Jenny also won NTP (2nd shot) on 12th (a ball), while Helen Chadwick claimed the Pro-pin of $27.
Balls went to Jenny Alexander, Helen Chadwick, Carol Warner, Anne Geddes, Sandra Short, Faye Frith and Helen McCathie.
Thursday 21st January
With the anticipated heat, a few players suggested the competition be shortened to 12 holes, as it was a non-handicap event (teams of three- Aggregate Stableford).
I agreed to this in the hope that we wouldn’t have players requiring ‘Heat treatment’ in the locker room again!
The winners were Jenny Ogg, Noela McMurray and Toni Clarke (60pts) who each won a $10 voucher. Carole Turpie won the Drive and Pitch on 12th.
Opening Day 4th February 2016
The sign-up sheet is in the locker room. Please add your name if you would like to play, it’s a shotgun start 8 for 8.30am. Preference can be given to starting tee -if you wish to be considered, please contact me by phone before Thursday 28th afternoon when we will do the draw/selections.
Lunch is a set menu for $20, Golf $15. Please pay for both at the Proshop on the day. Lunch only people should book and pay at the bar. Our last day for numbers will be Monday 1st February –any withdrawals after that will have to pay for lunch (that’s club policy!)
The competition is Presidents team (Please wear BLUE) versus the Captain’s team (Please wear GOLD) using Stableford points. The playing list will be published here on the blog and also on the noticeboard in the locker room. Late entries will be accepted.
