​American Foursomes was a fun and unusual event to play – both players teed off, then hit each others respective balls before choosing one to proceed with. Handicap was 3/8 of the combined total.
 Carol Warner and Jill Scott ‘nailed’ the game today, with a great score of 73 5/8.
Cathy Maule and Wendy Burke were Runners up, with 76 1/8.
 
Wendy also won the Propin on 14th hole for $25.
Four teams won balls – Martin and Dowling, Whittaker and Alexander, Clayton and Vitou, and Geddes and Deane.
The “Yellow Chicks ” team of Leonie, Jane Clifford, Jane Whittaker and Jenny Alexander collected the special Easter prize for their colourful dress today!
 Jane Clifford sported an award winning Easter Bonnet! (see photo). 


Carole Turpie won Tuesday’s Stableford, 35 points from Sandy Short on 33. Barb Clayton won both NTP 2nd shot on 4th and the Propin of $27.50!
 
Bronze Shield Pennants:
Our team of Chris Hill, Barb Clayton, Jan Tuite, Andrea Tomlin and Jane Clifford  played Moss Vale at Gold Creek GC in Canberra on Friday, but had a narrow 3/2 loss.  
 
Invitation Day 5th April:  Online Entry is OPEN…Shotgun start 9am, Golf and Lunch $35.  Lots of great entries coming in, still places available though. Generous prizes and fun extra competitions are on offer!
 
EASTER RAFFLE – And the winner is: Katrina Onishi, wife of member Kenji.
We raised $340 towards travel and entry to Representative events (Pennants, Royal Canberra Challenge Bowl, Canberra Shield etc), so thank you to everyone for your support, and the members who donated the prizes!

​Rain showers and a heavy course made for tough conditions today.
 
 As a number of players withdrew from today’s competition, it is VERY IMPORTANT for everyone to advise the Pro shop (and their fellow players if possible) if they are withdrawing, AND/OR to arrive at the start at LEAST 15 minutes before their scheduled time slot.  This allows the field to be moved up, (the Pro shop staff will organise this) thereby ‘closing the gaps’ and getting everyone in on time, and together, for the Presentation and announcements.  

 MEDAL WINNERS: 
Carol Warner is making a great comeback from her ‘Knee event’ last year, carding the best scratch score of the field (99) to win the Division 1 Club Medal (net 79) and the Veteran’s Ball!
Chris Hill won the NTP on 4th (second shot) and also claimed the Pro pin of $27.50 on 14th.
An excited ‘first time’ medallist, Wendy Burke won in Division 2, and also had the best net score of the day (76). She and Leonie Carroll shared the best scratch score in Division 2, but Leonie triumphed on a count back (103). Leonie also won the NTP on 4th, and Wendy won the Veteran’s Ball.
 
Last month’s Division 2 Club Medal round was tied between Andrea Tomlin and Rosemary Downing. Today Andrea triumphed with a net 83 to claim the Club Medal.
Well Done Andrea!
 
Faye Frith ‘cleaned up’ in Division 3, winning Best Net (79) on a count back, Best Scratch (112) , the Veteran’s Ball and the NTP on 4th (second shot).
However, the tie for the net with Cathy Maule means a playoff will need to be held on the next Thursday Stroke Round.
 
Bronze Shield Pennants:
Tomorrow the team of Chris Hill, Barb Clayton, Jan Tuite, Andrea Tomlin and Jane Clifford will play Moss Vale at Gold Creek GC in Canberra at 10am.

The Bowral team excelled itself and brought home the Bowral Goulburn Shield again today, making it four wins in a row.  The Shield is played for twice annually, Autumn in Goulburn and in Spring at Bowral. 

Eight matches to four was the final result, with the biggest win of the day 4/3, coming from our newest member(and first time) match player, Ruth Bailey. 

Well Done to all team members who travelled to play today! The camaraderie between our two clubs is always very strong, and this year was no exception...
We look forward to the return match in Spring.

Today’s 3BBB Stableford Winners on a count back with 47 points were Chris Hill, Faye Frith and Jane Whittaker ($20 each). Runners up included Jan Lane, Jenny Alexander and Ruth Bailey ($15 each). Chris Hill won the Pro pin ($27.50) and Helen Martin the NTP 2nd shot on 4th. It was great to have so many players out there today!
Tuesday 2 person Ambrose: After Monday’s Greens renovations, we invoked the 2–putt rule, but the greens were really good enough for putting ! Winners were Leonie Carroll and Janet Dunn with a great score of 68 ¾! Janet truly cleaned up, winning the Jackpotted Pro Pin $82.50, and the Longest drive on 18th.  Well Done Janet!
Saturday Stroke: Susan Harrison has been playing well lately and topped the round today with a gross 95, net 72.  Runner up of the 7 players was Jenny Ogg, net 74.  (Ed. BC - Apologies for the previously incorrect results). 
 
Bronze Shield Pennants: Our season got underway last Friday when our team of Chris Hill, Jan Tuite, Helen Chadwick, Sue Flaxman and Jane Clifford travelled to Belconnen GC to take on Gold Creek team. Unfortunately, we went down 3 1/2 to 1 ½ , but given that’s how we started our winning season last year, we are still feeling very positive about our prospects!
No match this week, but the team for Friday 23rd March at Gold Creek has been named: Chris Hill, Barb Clayton, Jan Tuite, Andrea Tomlin and Jane Clifford.
 
It’s a busy week for interclub golf, with the Bowral Goulburn Shield on Tuesday at Goulburn. Tee off times start from 9.30 am for the 12 matches, across 3 divisions.  Please be there before 9am (for morning tea etc. and to get your cards and meet your opponents). The team is:
Div 1: Pam Barker, Carol Warner, Chris Hill, Barb Clayton
Div 2: Sue Harrison, Leonie Carroll, Jan Tuite, Rosemary Downing
Div 3: Pat Donoghue, Carole Turpie, Sandi Short, Ruth Bailey

EASTER RAFFLE: The Committee has organised a raffle to raise funds to support our Pennants players with their travel expenses over the current season, involving a number of trips to Canberra. Tickets are $2, 3 for $5 or 7 for $10….please support this and promote to your friends and visitors!
The prize is a Gourmet basket of Wine, Chocolates, Condiments, Golf items, etc!
Draw date is 29th March after Presentation, just in time for Easter!

Entry will now be via the computer-there is NO Sign up sheet in the Locker Room...
 
Please enter ONLINE in your respective Division, in the clearly marked spaces (N.B. These are NOT Tee Times at this stage)..... On Monday 19th March, a Draw will be conducted by Division, to determine Tee times which will be then be entered into the Time Sheet…
Late entries will be accepted at the end of the field (in your division,where possible). This system is used at other clubs and apparently works well  -
Let’s see if this makes everyone’s life easier!? ​ Entries are now open!

GOLF NSW SUMMER MEETING:
​Congratulations to: Chris Hill, who played well to achieve second place in Division 1 on Day 1 (71 Net) and finished 5th Overall!
And Pat Donoghue who finished second  on Day 1, in Division 2 Stableford (33 pts).

 This Biannual event is now on Tuesday 20th March, at Goulburn GC .
We URGENTLY need 12 players to defend the Shield! 
All divisions are required (4 of each) - golf and lunch from 9am.

Anniversary Dinner - Black Tie Event 
Our Champions were celebrated and presented with the major championship awards for 2017 at the Club's Anniversary Dinner (117 years) last night. 
Here are the photos of our winners, celebrating with their partners, golfing and otherwise! Congratulations again, Ladies!

Best of luck to our ladies and all the visitors who will be playing on our course over the coming two days at the Annual Golf NSW Summer Meeting.
Division 2 will play 18 holes of Stroke play at Bowral (two tee start times 1st and 10th) on Monday, and Division 1 will play a similar round on Tuesday.
Other clubs in the district are hosting Days 3 and 4 of the Summer meeting, foursomes and 4BBB v Par.
For ladies wishing to play on Tuesday, our local competition will be Stableford, with a late start, after 1.30pm.
Thursday competition is also a delayed start this week, after 9.30 am tee times. 

The first round of Bronze Shield Pennants takes place on Friday this week at Belconnen GC.
Our team is Jane Clifford, Chris Hill, Jan Tuite, Helen Chadwick and Sue Flaxman (Ed-BC). Welcome to our new team members Sue and Jan, and we know the experienced players will give you great support as you step up in to the tee! GO TEAM!!

Next week from 11th March, our Autumn Greens renovations will take place. Competition will still be played - 2 person Ambrose and 3BBB Stableford, so no handicapping will be involved!

Well Done to all our players today! Fine weather, and with the course in great condition following the recent rains, made for a very enjoyable day of golf. Many found the course a challenge and the scores reflected the many comments on the difficulty of handling the greens, especially in a stroke round!
The lunch and club house service were very well received , and despite a long wait for results for the many trophies and categories that go with OPENING DAY, everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves! Finding winners to the loads of raffle prizes kept us entertained, as well as a rendition of "Happy Birthday" to Tournament organiser Paula, who ran an excellent event.
