Alan Westwood:
Barbara has advised that a memorial for Alan will be held at the Golf Club on Friday 3rd July at 2pm.  All members are invited to attend.  Barbara has asked that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Cancer Support in the Highlands.

Saturday Golf:
Ten players today enjoyed warm and sunny conditions - congratulations to the winner Pam Barker with 34 points, and to the runner up Irene Gilbert.  NTP 2nd shot on 15th hole - Jill Scott

Jubilee Foursomes:
Hearty congratulations to Leonie Carroll and Jenny Grant on winning the final of the Jubilee Foursomes yesterday.  The runners up were Anne Vitou and Anne Keys (the defenders from 2014).  Thanks also to the umpires on the day.

Alan Westwood:
We regret to advise the passing of Barbara's husband yesterday.  I know we will all have Barbara in our thoughts and pass on our commiserations to both her and to her family.

A good turnout of players made it a successful tribute day to our former beloved member and President, Bernadette Brown today. Wet and muddy conditions after overnight rain kept the scores low, but not enough to deter Marion Tyree!

 Her winning score of 32 points was just enough to edge out Division One winner Pam Barker, and Division Two winner Toni Clarke and several others, all with 31 points! Marion won Division three's daily event.

Runners Up in respective divisions were Jan Deane (28 c/b), Robyn McGinness (30 c/b) and Kim Furness (31).

The pro pin was not won again! Drive and pitch on the 4th winners were Jan Deane, Helen Chadwick and Shirley Brereton.

Charity Day - 23rd July 

The sign-up sheet for this event is now on the notice board. It is a 4 person Irish Stableford Competition, open to all (Mixed event) with lunch and lots of prizes to follow the golf!

A Week of Umbrellas:
Three days of golf this week - all played in the rain!  Quite a work of art to dry out the gear ready to do it all again!!

Thursday Medal Round:
Even though the weather was gloomy yesterday, we did manage to finally have the postponed medal round from 23rd April. 20 players braved the weather.  We also had the qualifier for the Meg and Hastings Clark Trophy.

Winner Divisiion 3 and Medal Winner - Shirley Brereton, nett 78 (a regular winner!!)

"Away" Games this week:
Four ladies went to the Kiama Charity Day on Wednesday- Pam Barker, Anne Vitou, Helen Chadwick and Wendy Pope - they came away with a ball each and Anne won $50 on a raffle.  These results were much better than those achieved at the Muscular Distrophy Day at Goulburn where they only prize won was a "Wish" prize (in other words "wish I could play better" - brought home by myself and Ellen Neale.  
Hardly anything to write home about, but we were there!!

Colin Stamm Salver:
This was played between Highlands, Moss Vale and Bowral today, with Highlands being the clear winners.  Three of our players were successful in their matches - Anne Keys, Helen Chadwick and Fran Dubiez.  We are particularly grateful to Fran for agreeing to play at 7.30 this morning when we had a withdrawal from the team, and also to Pat Donoghue for so readily agreeing to play at Highlands instead of Bowral.  The willing cooperation of these members to fill in at the last minute was much appreciated.  Thank you to all those who played - we can only do our best on the day!
The day was played in reasonable conditions and with a great deal of cameraderie.

Cowra Tournament:
Several of us travelled to Cowra for the tournament last week.  Not necessarily momentous from a golfing point of view, but Susan Harrison managed to "do us proud" by bringing home some bacon in the form of =
Scratch Winner on Thursday Div 3 and Nett Runner Up on Day 2.

Our club is being well represented tomorrow at Goulburn in the Motor Neurone Day with 10 players travelling to support this cause.  Good luck to all!

Monthly Medal Round  4

It was a great day for golf, no wind or rain.
A field of 33 players contested the medal round and we congratulate the medal winners (who were also the Veterans winners!):

Div 2: Bev Kemp-Clayton (103/7               R/U: Anne Keys (103/80)

Div 3: Shirley Brereton (117/80)               R/U: Margaret Dawkins (118/81)

The Putts were won by Steph, Rosemary Downing and Shirley Brereton respectively.
The Pro-pin was not win, so jackpots till next week.

It was good to see President Carole back having lunch with us, and we hope she continues to recover and gets back to playing golf very soon.

Thursday 18th June
The draw for next Thursday’s competition is now on the computer. Anyone wishing to join the field may do so by calling the pro shop.

The Colin Stamm Salver is on Tuesday 16th June, commencing from 9am. All players have been notified and confirmed for their venue, so please arrive at 8.30 at your respective club . We look forward to seeing you all back in the Bowral club for the lunch afterwards.

 Any players wishing to play in the club Stableford competition that day may enter via the computer, after the six match-play reserved time slots please.

“Never Give Up” was the message from former Club Captain Pam Barker after her round on Thursday. Pam scored a PB of 17 shots on the 10th hole and 9 on another, but still managed to drop her handicap on the days score!!  As her playing partner, I could only stand by and encourage her while admiring her amazingly ‘cool’ temperament in the circumstances!
Later on, I did however discuss the option of possibly taking an ‘unplayable’ lie (under penalty of one shot) from the bunker that caused her so much grief, which she did admit might have been a better option…
