OPENING DAY
What champions you all were yesterday! 56 players playing their little socks off for their teams. A special thanks to the Captain's Team - only 2 points behind! The final scores were President's - 519, Captain's 517. Pretty close!

DAILY COMPETITIONS
Saturday (23/1) 15 women played in the first stroke event of the year.
The winner (C/B) with a lovely score of 96/75 was Maggie McKenzie. Close on her heels was Sonya Bleakley posting a great score of 109/75. Terrific results on a very hot day.
Tuesday (26/1) Australia day/ Capt V Capt Day saw a fabulous field of 78 players. Congratulations to the Men's Team for winning the day 645 pts to 624 Pts.
NEXT YEAR GIRLS!!
1st Place on the Women's Team was Ellen Neale and Carole Byrnes with a mighty score of 44pts. (Ellen still won't let me in on her secret!).

2nd Shot on 4th - Netti Buchanan
Longest Drive on 18th - Jan Deane.
Well done all of you - a tough day at the Office!
Thursday (28/1) Opening Day.

The President's Team won the Trophy - well done Pam and your girls!
Thank you to ALL of you who took part yesterday. It was such a happy and successful day. From dressing up in the appropriate colour, to sinking that winning putt - YOU ARE ALL WINNERS!!

As mentioned above, the S.A.C Race was won by Julie Hayden. There were 10 girls who had played the 6 required number of games over the summer break, and the top 3 were only separated by 3 points!
Julie scored 202pts, Wendy Burke scored 200pts and Virginia Wozniak scored 199pts. A terrific achievement from all of you!
Julie won the perpetual trophy and a bottle of Mumm Champagne.

BERRIMA DISTRICT INTERCLUB EVENT & CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
This event was postponed from last year due to Covid restrictions. However, Moss Vale and Highlands Golf Clubs are keen to play this year. The date is Tuesday 23rd February. I have put a sheet out in the locker room for you to put your names down, if you would like to play. We will try and have teams of 3 - 1 Bowral, 1 MV and 1 Highland's girl in each team. However, there will probably be more Bowral girls so bear with us. We will play 16 holes, so we can be back at the clubhouse to cheer on  the Champions coming home.

CHALLENGE BOWL
The sheet is in the locker room for you to put your names down for this Highly Contested Event. Please make sure your names are down by the 25th February.We will then do the draw and put it up on the noticeboard.

Thank you for reading the Blog - hopefully it's providing you with the necessary information that you want. It's a great way to communicate to all members, so can I please encourage you to tell your fellow golfers to read it too!!

DAILY COMPETITIONS
The course is looking pretty magnificent (thanks Matt and your team). Thank you also to The Green staff, Kevin Kenny, Dick Hiser and the number of volunteers who worked tirelessly in the heat last week to upgrade the bunkers. They too are magnificent!! We just LOVE bunkers!
There have been some terrific scores this week....
Saturday (16/1), Wendy Burke won the day with a score of 38pts. Lyn Solness was the R/U on 36pts.
Tuesday (18/1) was a 3Ball Aggregate Stableford. 38 players took part in this team event, and the winners were Suzanne Ayre, Chris Levy and Carol Warner with a score of 106. Hot on their heels were Team Neale, Mellen and Hayden with a score of 105. Ellen, Di and Julie have all been playing beautifully over the summer break.
Thursday (21/1) was the last of the SAC Race events. With a whopping score of 41pts, Sue Flaxman was Div 1 winner (on a Countback). Carol Warner was a worthy R/U also on 41pts.The Div 2 winner was Di Mellen - 39pts and R/U - Sharon Rowe with 36pts. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL!!

37 girls were highly competitive in this event - it's a little bit of fun over the summer break. Thanks everyone for making this such a happy event.
The WINNER will be announced next Thursday at our Opening Day.

I don't often play on Saturdays, but last Saturday I saw a gap, so popped my name down. One of my partners, Faye Frith, taught me some new words associated with a golf course. Did you know that on a Saturday, the Fairway is called the Freeway, and "Going to the Ball" means trying to find your ball - not a Cinderella moment!!!!
The scoring also seems to be a bit different, as Faye played really well and scored 31pts, but the computer said 44pts!! I think I might have to play again on a Saturday.

OUR VERY OWN CHAMP!
Michelle Di Natale has been tearing up the courses in ACT for the Jack Newton ACT Championships. Here are her scores...

Round 1: Federal GC 80 (+7)
Round 2: Yowani GC 80 (+6)
Round 3: Gold Creek GC 77 (+5)
Round 4: Queanbeyan GC 82 (+10)
Total of 319 (+28) to finish 2nd in the girls 13-15 and 4th in the girls championships.

DAILY COMPETITIONS
Well the weather certainly heated up this week, as well as the SAC Race Competition! Some fantastic scores were posted on all 3 days of competition.
On Saturday (9/1), Chris Levy was the winner with 33pts.
On Tuesday (12/1), Ellen Neale won Division 1 posting a glorious score of 36pts on a countback from Sue Flaxman (R/U) on a countback from Vicki Scanlan also on 36pts!
Division 2 on Tuesday (12/1) was won by Jenny Alexander with a lovely score of 35pts, with Penny McKenna being R/U with 32pts.
Thursday 14th was hot, hot hot. The weather did not worry some of our girls though as there were again some wonderful scores.
Division 1 winner (14/1) was Katrina Onishi posting a great score of 37pts. Close on her heels was Ellen Neale posting another 36pts - 2 in one week! Katrina also scored an EAGLE on the 3rd Hole!! Congratulations Katrina.
(Katrina is Women's President at Pymble Golf Club, and also a member at Bowral).
Ellen must be taking some special breakfast supplements - they are certainly improving her game ....... may be affecting her memory though as her wallet and scorecard stayed on the 1st Tee as she sailed off following her fantastic drive!!
Division 2 winner was Wilma Lung with a great score of 33pts. Wilma won on a countback from Jane Kilmister also on 33pts.
Lovely to see Christine Evans back on the golf course - Chris has obviously been practicing at home, as she scored a lovely 34pts on Thursday!

PENNANTS
There has been a fabulous response to the 2021 Pennants. Thank you to everyone who has put their names down for either the CSGA Plate or the Bronze Shield.
Virginia (Plate Captain) has organised 2 clinics with Kevin Kenny - sheets are in the locker room for you to add your name if you can attend. Thanks to Kevin for giving up his time on Thursday 18th February and Thursday 25th February.
We are in the process of purchasing new shirts for the Plate Team, as the Bronze Shield team will wear the new shirts from last year.
If you have not put your name down yet - it's not too late. See Virginia or Jane if you need more information.

DAILY COMPETITIONS
The SAC Race continues to draw a good number of competitors - 23 women played on Tuesday and 26 on Thursday. Even though the weather on both days was atrocious, some girls produced fantastic scores.
Jan Deane was the winner on Tuesday, 5th January with 34pts, followed closely by Julie Hayden with 33pts.
Yesterday, 7th January, Virginia Wozniac came home the winner with 37pts, just beating Jane Kilmister on 36pts. A marvellous effort girls - well done!
Just a reminder to record your scores on the sheet in the locker room after putting them into the computer.

WEATHER AND COURSE CONDITIONS
Summer in Australia usually signals the start of the cicada chorus, the smell of sunscreen and salt water and the sound of sausages sizzling on the BBQ. This year, however, we have the mosquito chorus, the smell of wet clothes and golf bags, and the sound of Netflix!
The course is pretty soggy - as you can see from the following photos. Nevertheless, Jan Deane was able to find a dry spot on Tuesday making Par on the 15th.
There was also a bit of casual water on the 13th and 16th - hopefully your ball didn't land in the 'river'. The ducks were enjoying themselves however!!

PENNANTS
A couple of teams have had to withdraw from the CSGA Plate (Goulburn) and the Bronze Shield (Gold Creek). Please check the sheets in the locker room as to the changes - only affects Bowral in the Bronze Shield.
If you are interested in playing in either of the 2 teams - please put your names down, or speak to Pennant Captains - Virginia and Jane.

OPENING DAY
Please make sure your names are entered on the sheet in the locker room by 21st January. Pam and I will be selecting the teams after golf on this day. President's Team wear BLUE shirts, Captain's Team wear YELLOW shirts ..... or something in the correct colour - scarf, visor, cap etc!!
