The new scorecards have arrived so we will be using them next week. Please don't hesitate to ask for help from one of the committee girls ... or anyone for that matter!
THE BRONZE SHIELD TEAM PLAYED THEIR FINAL YESTERDAY AND PERFORMED EXTREMELY WELL.
It all came down to the last putt on the 18th for our No 5 player - Rosemary Downing! The other 4 players ( Jane Clifford, Sue Ayre, Pam Barker, Clare Stanham) had won 2 matches and lost 2 matches so it was down to Rosemary. Rosemary had popped her ball on the green for a fairly easy putt to put the match at all square and off they would go to the 19th Hole. HOWEVER, Rosemary's opponent chipped in from off the green to sink her putt and win the match! WHAT AN EXCITING FINISH!
We celebrated their terrific performance back at the club later in the afternoon...
A special thanks to the caddies - don't they look resplendent in their bibs? Terry Downing, Sue Flaxman, Chris Levy and Don Barker.
The team was Virginia Wozniak, Julie Hayden, Barb Clayton, Jan Deane and Annie Geddes.

WHITTAKER'S WINNERS...
- Woolies - There is a little bit of magic in these little winners! They are the Chux eraser sponges and are hanging up in the kitchen section along with kitchen sponges. They literally make marks on paintwork disappear and 90% of the time you won’t have to do a paint touch up. Think about the marks tradies leave on your walls and the marks paintings and furniture leave behind. They will vanish, trust me.
- Woolies – While you are there, buy some of the Beak sausages as they are really excellent. I think they are the best supermarket sausages available.
- Cashmere Essentials - Try the fabulous little block for removing pilling on knitwear. It’s basically a course pumice stone that works wonders. I was reluctant at first as I thought for $20 I could just use an ordinary pumice stone but it didn’t work nearly as well. It’s also better than those little combs and certainly better than a razor which caused no end of damage to my jumpers!

RULES
Phones are a big part of our lives - what would we do without them?
However, there are rules on the golf course about the usage of phones. Please make sure your phone is on silent at all times and only use it in emergencies, as an on course measuring distance device or checking a ruling on the R & A Rules App.
If you are not sure about a ruling; please continue with your round and ask a committee member for clarification before you enter your score into the computer.
It really comes down to etiquette on the course. Be aware of other people, your playing partners and opponents. Please follow the Rules of Golf....
From R & A Rules of Golf
The Rules of Golf Etiquette; Behaviour on the Course Introduction.
This section provides guidelines on the manner in which the game of golf should be played. If they are followed, all players will gain maximum enjoyment from the game. The overriding principle is that consideration should be shown to others on the course at all times.
The Spirit of the Game: Golf is played, for the most part, without the supervision of a referee or umpire. The game relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players and to abide by the Rules.
All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship at all times, irrespective of how competitive they may be. This is the spirit of the game of golf.
Safety: Players should ensure that no one is standing close by or in a position to be hit by the club, the ball or any stones, pebbles, twigs or the like when they make a stroke or practice swing. Players should not play until the players in front are out of range. Players should always alert green staff nearby or ahead when they are about to make a stroke that might endanger them. If a player plays a ball in a direction where there is a danger of hitting someone, he should immediately shout a warning. The traditional word of warning in such situations is “fore”.
The noise and destruction on the 12th and 14th Holes on Thursday caused by the Corellas saddens many of us. Matt and his staff must despair when they see what these birds are doing!
Spotted in a tree behind the 14th tee....
The best place to park your buggy, so as not to interfere with the group behind you, is to the left of the 17th green on the slope.
Enjoy your weekend, and see you all next week.
