Just a reminder that now that we have preferred lies until further notice we need to be aware of when they apply.
The Club Match and Greens Committee reviewed when relief may be taken and determined preferred lies will only apply when you ball comes to rest in a closely mown area on the course. Closely mown areas are defined as fairways, teeing areas and fringe areas around the green. Preferred lies will no longer apply to the rough - even if it has recently been cut!
Relief From Tree Roots
Players are reminded that free relief from tree roots only applies on fairways. It does not apply when you are in the rough. In this case you will need to chip out or of course you may nominate that the ball is unplayable - take relief accordingly for a one stroke penalty.
Designated Tee Times - Rule 5.3a When to Start Round
One of the beauties of golf is that we are always learning something new.
This is one of the rules of golf that we need to be aware of.
You must start at (and not before or after) your starting time.
Penalty for Breach of Rule 5.3a:Disqualification, except in these three cases:
- You Arrive at Starting Point, Ready to Play, No More Than Five Minutes Late: The general penalty is applied to your first hole.
- You Start No More Than Five Minutes Early: The general penalty is applied to your first hole.
- Committee Decides that Exceptional Circumstances Prevented You from Starting on Time: There is no breach of this Rule and no penalty.
As you are aware players have been hitting off earlier than scheduled on many of our competition days. This then places pressure on players later in the field who arrive on schedule for their booked tee time but are made to feel they are late.
Remember the Pro-shop is always nice and warm and you can wait in there if you need to.
