It's been a busy week - stroke round, "fun" team event and a qualifying stroke round. We have also managed to organise a terrific team to, hopefully, beat Moss Vale next Tuesday in The Unity Cup.
The 8th and 9th are drying out well and a big "thank you" must go to the green's staff and Dad's Army. The forest has been trimmed back beautifully - a joy to walk through.
The Challenge Bowl has reached the FINALS. Congratulations to Ellen Goodwin and Andrea Tomlin in getting through to the finals. We look forward to finding out the winner very soon!
The first round of both The Barbara McCarthy Memorial Trophy and The Rosevale Plate have been played - well done to all those who have advanced to the 2nd round, and commiserations to those who missed out. A great achievement!
The "Novice 9 Holes" has been a very successful initiative - we are thrilled with the number of women who have taken advantage of this program. They are now ready to "graduate" to a clinic which is being run by Kevin Kenny. A little graduation event will happen next Friday morning at 10.00am in the clubhouse. Please feel free to come and join in this momentous moment!!
RULES
It seems that a funny thing happened yesterday in our stroke round .... a few girls were not sure which ball they were playing or how it got into their hands or golf bag. Along with hysterical laughter, and some knowledge of The Rules Of Golf, the group realised their mistake. A 2 shot penalty (General Penalty) was given (after much discussion) to the offending player!!
- I often make banana bread, but there's never any left to toast - so this is a real winner. For only $5 at HFM you can't beat the banana loaf, which is very dense, and ideal for toasting in a sandwich maker. Find it near the cakes and breads.
- While you are in HFM pick up a container of the Persian Feta with Dill and Roasted Garlic in the refrigerated section near the cheeses. It's fabulous and keeps for ages. It's about $10 and well worth it!
- I know cauliflowers are superb at the moment, but when they are hard to come by, you must try the ALDI frozen cauliflower bake. The Broccoli Bake is also pretty good, but both products sell out regularly so keep trying. They are in the frozen section near the peas.

UNITY CUP
This annual competition between Moss Vale and Bowral Golf Clubs is on next Tuesday 17th August.
A bit of background history .....
The Unity Cup was presented in 1951 by Miss Leonora Wray and Miss Una Clift for play between Bowral GC and Moss Vale GC to promote unity and competition each year between the clubs.
Miss Leona Gray won her first major title in 1906 - The NSW Championship, with a mere 5 clubs in her bag. With Una Clift, Miss Wray made women's golf what it is today.

Thank you to all those women who are encouraging others in their golf game. It is sometimes not easy starting off on our golf journeys - we all need encouragement and support. The elation that we get when we have hit a great shot is a wonderful feeling, especially as they don't happen that often!!
See you all next week and happy golfing.
