Check at the pro shop in the morning to see if I have managed to get pre order forms so you can order lunch before you tee off. Make sure you put your tee time on the order form to assist the kitchen.

Tomorrow is our Annual Invitation Day. Cost of the day is $12 per player and lunch your own cost at the bar. I have asked for a restricted menu to assist in having lunch served easily. The card players will also be in the club.

We should have recruited her for the Shield games at Goulburn. The 12 ladies that travelled to Goulburn today put up a brave challenge but could not match for force of a rejuvenated Goulburn Team. We lost - Goulburn 8 - Bowral 4. We do have another match in Spring on home turf and can again regain the shield. Shall we say Goulburn have the Shield "on loan". Friday is the 2nd pennant match and being played at Goulburn we know what to expect. I have just been advised that carts will not be available due to the wet course. Thursday is Invitation Day - Weather forecast is looking good lets hope the ground is dry enough for carts. Thursday 29 March is Round 2 of our Medals. The draw has been done and is on the website. It is not open and if you require any changes please ring ME. Pam Barker. Today the ladies travelled to Yass to play against Goulburn and...........
THEY WON - 5/0 Well done ladies. A good start to the season. The scores were: Wendy Ruttan (21) defeated marilyn Manfred (24) 5/4 Anne Geddes (21) defeated Elaine Sharman (25) 2/1 Robyn McGinnes (29) defeated Annette Smith (29) 3/2 Helen Chadwick (30) defeated Annie Gilmore (31) 5/4 Barbara Westwood (30) defeated Ros Slater (35) 2/1 Goulburn have threatened to beat us on Tuesday but the girrs said beware we will have our "A" grade team in on Tuesday. Thirty players in todays event. Great to see the ladies back on the course. Lets hope the carts are allowed next week.
Division 1: Winner - Jill Scott (23) 34 points R/ Up - Anne Geddes (21) 32 points NTP - Helen Martin Division 2: Winner - Faye Frith (34) 37 points R/Up - Gloria Campbell (27) 31 points NTP - Anne Keys Division 3: Winner - Rosemary Downing (38) 38 points R/ Up - Uschi Eriksson(38) 26 points NTP - Marion Tyree Balls to 29 c/b: Beverley Kemp Clayton, Barbara Westwood,Leonie Carroll, Helen Martin, Jan Southon & Alexandra Dowling. Well done ladies. Ladies,
I have been advised this evening that there will be NO CARTS on Thursday. Please be sympathetic for the green staff they are trying so hard to get the course back on track. The greens renovations which were to be done last Monday have been deferred until April. The men were not allowed carts today (Wednesday). If you come across an area on the fairway that has been roped off - this means that if your ball is in this area please take your buggy down the side of the fairway, leave it on the side and walk across. The rope is there to stop you tramping across the wet areas and doing more damage. Its a hard call but be understaning of our current situation. Firstly todays event was a shortened version to accomodate the state of the course. I didn't want people treading in areas not safe.
The winner today was : Barbara Clayton 15 points for 6 holes - wonder what it would have been for 18. Runner Up: Anne Vitou - 12 c/b Third : Barbara Westwood - 12 and then Rosemary Downing - 11 points. We had 19 in the field with 2 visitors - Pennant Hills and Marian Golf Club (SA). Next Tuesday we travel to Goulburn for the Autumn match of the Shield event. The Team is : Irene Gilbert, Wendy Ruttan Anne Geddes and Jill Scott (Div 1) Beverley Kemp Clayton, Stephne Whiteway, Toni Clarke & Helen Chadwick ( Div 2) and Trish Boyd, Anne Vitou, Jane Clifford and Rosemary Downing (Div 3) . I spoke with Goulburn today and the course is still closed but due to reopen on Saturday. The Bronze Shield team travel to Yass on Friday for the first of the pennant matches. It is a struggle to meet the requirements for the team as many of the players who had nonimated to play are now not available. New Flags for the Greens - Some years ago the ladies paid for new flags for the greens. These are now seeing better days and Damian has provided me with a sample of a new type of flag. These flags cost $35 each and can be used as an advertising tool. The Bowral Logo and name would be embroided on the flag along with the name of the donor. I will be showing this flag to you on Thursday. For $35 you can have your name on the flag. Imagine having a hole in 1 on the 4th hole and it just happened to be the hole sponsored by yourself. Our latest hole in 1 recipient Alexandra Dowling could have her name - "donated by Alex Dowling "embroided on the flag. Give it some thought and bring your cheque book with you. Two tee starts - in consultation with Captain David and Damian it has been decided to dispense with the 2 tee starts and all events will now start on the 1st tee only. This has been brought about by the work load on the green staff. As a consequence of this Invitation Day will now be from the 1st tee only. If you are NOT bringing a visitor you MAY start on the 1st tee. The computer has been altered to allow for this change. Currently we have 34 players , lets see if we can make it 40+. To our travellers - play your own game, hold your head high as you represent BGC. Pam Ba Ladies,
Due to the state of the course, the need of the club for revenue and of course your need for a game of golf, the competition on Tuesday 13th March will be a ball comp over 6 holes. You may play as many holes as you like but the 1st 6 will count in the competition. Your normal Tuesday fee will apply $9.50. If it doesn't rain we hope to see many ladies on the course and later in the club house. THIS EVENT WILL NOT BE HANDICAPPED. Pam Barker - Lady Captain Ladies anyone wanting a game should attend the club tomorrow for lunch. Hopefully I will have rallied the committee together to assist with the afternoon.
Pam Barker The following dates are the new schedule for the Jubilee Foursomes Knock Out Rounds:
Qualifying Round - Thursday 12th April (Remember you do NOT have to be a qualifyer to play on this day). 1st Round - by Tuesday 29th May 2nd Round - by Tuesday 17th July Final by - Tuesday 4th September 2012. The match committee will provide a referee for the final round. A new schedule of all knock out dates will be posted on the notice board in the locker room. The Golf NSW Summer Meeting to be held next week has been cancelled due to the weather conditions.
For the Bowral Ladies tee times will be open from tomorrow on line for the Tuesday & Thursday stableford competition starting at 8.30 am- privided the rain stops. For the ladies who were taking part in the NSW event please go to the Golf NSW website to read their story. A full refund will be made commencing next week. Unfortunately for the club this means a loss of about $3,000 income over the 4 days. Please support your club in other ways to try and make up this amount. Pam Barker - Captain |
