Unfortunately one of our qualifiers is not available for the first round so our top qualifier on the day gets a bye. The Divisions 3 players who now go to match play are as follows:
(1) Sharon Rowe vs (8) Bye
(2) Barb Mead vs (7) Fran Dubiez
(3) Sandra Short vs (6) Jane Kilmister
(4) Anne Vitou vs (5) Sonya Bleakley
Please note the first round play-offs for both these events need to be completed by Sunday 26 July. For those players new to these match play events it is usual practice for the first named player to contact their opponent to arrange a suitable day/time to play your match. Remember matches are not permitted on Thursdays.
Bernadette Brown Memorial Trophy
On Thursday 25 June we will be playing the Bernadette Memorial Trophy. Please make sure you have your name down to play in this special Stableford event.
Bernadette was a member of the Bowral community for many years and many would remember her from her days at the Bowral Co-Op.
Her golfing years started at Bowral Country Club and about 2005 she transferred to the Bowral Golf Club. She was elected to the Women's Committee in 2007. She was Vice President in 2009 and in 2010 was elected President - a position she held until October 2012.
During her time at BGC Bernadette had many health issues but she never let this get her down. She would always arrive for the presentation of prizes on Thursday afternoons with a smile on her face.
For those who knew Bernadette you should be proud to have had the pleasure of such a friend.
On Tuesday we will be playing on the Blue Course. Here are a few points you will need to keep in mind especially when playing the 14th & 15th holes.
Here is a copy of the safety sign at the 14th tee - please observe the conditions and stay safe.
The dam is a Red Penalty area so you have three options to take relief, each for a penalty of one stroke. (See Rule 17).
(1) You make take stroke-and-distance relief ie play again from the tee.
(2) Back-on-the-line relief. You may drop a ball in a relief area based on a reference point determined on where your ball crossed the edge of the penalty area. You may go back as far as you wish to determine the reference point.
(3) As this is a red penalty area you may also take lateral relief. The reference point for taking lateral relief is based on the estimated point where the ball last crossed the edge of the penalty area - not where the ball finally ends up! This means your point of relief is likely to be up near the nets rather than down near the red tee.
Here is a diagram showing the three options for taking relief in this case.
What happens if you accidently play from the wrong tee say you forget we are playing from the Blue Tees?
You need to replay from the correct location. Your original stroke and any subsequent shots played until the mistake is corrected do not count - but - the penalty for playing from the wrong tee is the general penalty (two penalty strokes) - this means you are now playing your third shot from the tee.
Tuesday 30 June - 2BBB (plus individual) White Course
We were going to update this event to a 3BBB but it was a bit late in the proceedings to do so. I know many of you have enjoyed playing in twos recently. Make sure you get your bookings in and make the most of your last chance to play in twos for a while.
Don't forget all the results can be accessed under "Current Results" on the right under Quick Links.
