So..... what crazy things have been happening on the course and in the clubhouse?
Firstly, we had a terrific roll up for our Bowral Open Championships on Thursday. The weather was perfect, the course was in great shape, the scores were good and the camaraderie in the clubhouse afterwards was just lovely.
Thank you to you all for making it such a pleasant day for all the members and our visitors. The visitors, from as far afield as Wagga Wagga, were very complimentary on our course and - a BIG THANK YOU TO MATT AND HIS TEAM.
Thank you to Helen Chadwick for the lovely flower arrangements and Pam Barker for organising a welcome coffee and scone station.
The Challenge Bowl and The Jubilee Foursomes are almost at the pointy end. Well done to all the winners in their matches over the past few weeks, and commiserations to those who came second!!
Also, CONGRATULATIONS for playing your matches on time - it's not easy trying to organise all these games.
Whilst on the subject of match play - don't forget to play off the plates and use the old scorecards with the match index on the back.
If you are organising a match, you need to leave about 30 minutes between when you hit off and the last group in the field (if you are playing on a Tuesday). There is always the opportunity of teeing off the 10th, if you wish.
CHRIS LEVY AND NETTI BUCHANAN WILL PLAY BARB CLAYTON AND CLARE STANHAM. GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!
I cannot stress enough how fortunate we all are to be out playing golf on our beautiful course. It's a fun game - one that really should not be taken too seriously or lose your cool over. How lucky we are to enjoy the camaraderie of so many fabulous women - on and off the course.
I love this quote from Bobby Jones - sums up how we should play the game....

WHITTAKER’S WINNERS
- ALDI – To me this is one of my very best winners. If you like trout pate this is for you! My favourite recipe states the importance of using a good smoked rainbow trout fillet or two. There’s absolutely no need for this, as strange as it seems you can buy tinned Smoked Rainbow Trout at Aldi and its fabulous. It’s in the tinned fish section and is in a flat tin like sardines. Be careful not to get the one in truffle oil if you want it for pate or a dip. I have given this tip and the recipe, to quite a few of the golfing girls who all love it. It’s a well tried and tested recipe thanks to an old school commemorative cookbook. I suppose then I had better give you the recipe!
1 x 250g packet of cream cheese (the traditional not ‘light’ is best)
2 x tins of well drained Smoked Rainbow Trout
1 desert spoon, or more to taste, of horseradish cream
The juice of 1 lemon, or more to taste
Put all these ingredients into a container, I use a plastic measuring jug, and blend with a stick blender. Add a little cracked pepper. Then refrigerate to stiffen it a little before serving. Great with toast triangles.
You can halve the recipe if you like but it also freezes well so why would you bother!
Also on the 29th Aldi have Stick Blenders for $59.99.
- ALDI – This is no brainer for those places like garages, tool sheds and porches where lighting is sometimes compromised. It’s a LED weatherproof batten light that doesn’t need hard wiring. Just plug it in. You can even programme it as a sensor light. It’s available on Saturday 29th but be quick if you want one. Price - $79.99
- HFM – As always there are so many great items here but one goody for the ‘just in case’ shelf is the box of ‘180 Degrees’ Cheese Bites. A very cheesy cocktail size biscuit. Almost as good as homemade.
Happy shopping
Jane
