Thursday Golf and AGM:
Only 24 players lined up for ‘fun’ golf today, 1,2,3 countdown Stableford.
Winners by a close margin were Pam Barker, Faye Frith and Wendy Burke (66) from Shirley Brereton, Blandina Meere and Pat Donoghoe (64).
Some major trophies were presented today from events conducted throughout the year: Leonie Carroll and Toni Clarke were the outstanding golfers from the medal rounds this year, winning the Presidents Cup and McLeish Cup respectively.
A full list of the winners, including Summer and Winter Eclectic competitions are on the noticeboard.
Today was the Annual general Meeting of the Women’s Golfing Committee.
President Carole presented her report, as did Barbara present the annual Captain’s report. Jane Clifford gave the Treasurer’s report to April when the Women’s funds were subsumed into club funds.
Two new committee members were elected : Carol Warner as Secretary, replacing Rosemary Downing, and Cathy Maule. Noela McMurray is retiring from the committee but staying on as the Women’s handicapper. Chris Hill remains on committee but Jane Clifford takes over the Vice Captain’s role.
Both Noela and Rosemary were thanked for their service on the committee and presented with a gift on behalf of all the women golfers.
President Kevin Burke presented Pam Tallents with her Honorary Life Member Club Card in recognition of her recent elevation to this prestigious category. Pam is only the second women’s Life member, so it is a wonderful and deserved honour for her. Congratulations from all of us, Pam.
We look forward to another good year of golf ahead.
Club Championships: The annual Championships are about to get underway next week, three rounds of stroke play on Thursday 13th October, Tuesday 18th, and Thursday 20th October.
Entries are now closed and the seeded draw is on the computer. Late entries can be accepted, please consult the captain or pro shop to enter you name. If no space in your division, late entrants will have to play at the end of the field.
Thank you to Chris Hill for Acting as Captain for me while I was away recently. You do a great job, Chris!
