Prosper Ellis was Bowral Golf Club's first Honorary Life Member. He was known as a remodeller of existing golf courses, but his status as a leading amateur golfer led to major design commissions at courses including The Australian Golf Club and many other Sydney golf courses. His design work was incorporated across a wide geographical area including Federal Golf Club in Canberra, Highlands Golf Club and several other regional clubs in NSW.
Prosper Ellis and his wife lived at Winterslee, Burradoo. Ellis died in Bowral on 29 July 1980, and his wife in 1967. (Wikipedia, 2017)
While life is starting to slowly get back to normal we need to be mindful that there are still restrictions in place to protect all our members. These details were listed on the BGC Captain's blog and added here in case you did not see them.
- Covid update. The following is a brief refresher for players to cover the Covid rules which are in place across the course.
- Bunkers are 'in-play', however, no rakes are provided and players have the option of a preferred lie within the bunker. Please foot-rake the bunker after your shot.
- The flagsticks are to remain in the hole.
- The ball washers and water fountains are out of use.
- Players should not handle other players' equipment, clubs, balls etc.
- Players will mark their own card, however, they should also act as the marker for someone in the group using the marker column on your own card to ensure there are no discrepancies in a score. Remember to mark the score immediately after completion of each hole, again to avoid discrepancies which might arise at the end of a round. Following confirmation of scores, enter your score into the computer and then discard the scorecard.
- Presentations are still not being held.
The CSGA Gala Day is close to home this year so please think about getting a pair together. The format for this annual fun day is Canadian Foursomes. There will be a two tee start from 09:30. The entry fee of $35 per player includes lunch.
This year's dress theme is "Swinging Sixties" so check the back of the wardrobe and bring out those memorable outfits. All raffle proceeds will go to "Can Assist".
